Having published articles on our recommended Defenders and Midfielders for the next four-to-six Gameweeks, we now assess the men up front. Liverpool’s dynamic duo continue to lead the way, though City’s irrepressible Argentine stakes a claim on the back of an eye-catching series of displays and goals.

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez hold the top two spots respectively, with the Englishman’s incredible form and slightly cheaper price allowing him to nip ahead of his more explosive colleague. Anfield encounters with West Brom, Fulham and Norwich in the next six, in addition to a trip to Hull, bode well for the Reds duo, whilst visits to league leaders Arsenal and Merseyside rivals Everton should hold no fear, given their respective lack of resilience. Fantasy managers opting to go without either face further agonising weeks in the next month.

Sergio Aguero surges up our rankings to third place. The Argentine seems to have finally found his form under Manuel Pellegrini and with back-to-back braces in all competitions over the last few days, he looks irresistible right now and surely immune to rotation. A flourishing partnership with fit-again David Silva, allied with Pellegrini’s keenness to go on the offensive, means Aguero was the most transferred-in forward this Gameweek – he squares off against an uncharacteristically vulnerable Chelsea defence before embarking on a run that includes Norwich and Sunderland in the next three.

Olivier Giroud drops down to fourth, having featured heavily for both club and country since the start of the season. While his form is undeniable – two assists in the league last time out and a midweek goal against Dortmund – the Frenchman has publicly declared his need for a rest, with next week’s Capital One Cup clash against Chelsea the likely time to draft in Nicklas Bendtner. Given that the Gunners face Liverpool and Manchester United over the upcoming weeks, Giroud looks too essential to skip league duties.

High intensity Romelu Lukaku carried the armband for many last week, with only a 70-minute appearance and two points to show for it. Trips to Villa Park and Crystal Palace should provide the robust frontman plenty of opportunities to improve his fitness and his tally as the Toffees continue to keep pace with their Merseyside rivals.

Wayne Rooney falls outside the top five. A draw against Southampton and a faltering midweek win inspire little confidence in Manchester United assets; however the England star’s price and set-piece threat are enough to warrant continued interest. The Reds could welcome a ramshackle Stoke defence to Old Trafford on Saturday prior to a trip to Fulham, as Rooney looks to maintain a run that has harvested a goal or assist in four of the last five.

Manager Paul Lambert may be treating Christian Benteke with care following his return from injury, but there’s no denying the midlands outfit have missed their powerful front man. With one of the tastiest fixture lists on offer, owners of the big Belgian will no doubt be salivating at the prospect of home clashes against Everton and Cardiff, along with a trip to hit-and-miss West Ham in the next three weeks. Subject to mass sales following his injury, an 8.8 price looks all the more appealing.

Loic Remy remains on our radars ahead of a promising derby against strugglers Sunderland. Offering a consistency unrivalled by fellow Geordie forwards and an attractive price for those seeking to invest elsewhere, the Frenchman may well be worth holding onto for another week. With Chelsea visiting St James’ Park before a tricky to White Hart Lane in the weeks after, the case is hardly clear cut, though.

Last season’s Golden Boot winner Robin Van Persie drops down the pecking order amid concerns over form and fitness. Missing out on Champions League duties in midweek due to toe and groin problems, it’s clear that David Moyes is desperate to protect the talismanic Dutchman at every opportunity – subsequently, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify a 13.9 outlay for a forward that may well not start. After scoring from open play for the first time since Gameweek 1 last weekend, the United frontman has done just about enough to earn a place on this week’s Watchlist. With the premium assets in midfield performing so well and with Aguero to add to the growing list of high-performing forwards, Van Persie’s days in the top ten may well be numbered.

With a kind schedule (and spot-kick duties, as we discovered last time out) boosting his appeal, Wilfried Bony Bony rounds off the list. Yet to really hit form this year, the summer signing has the perfect platform to cement a place in Michael Laudrup’s side as Swansea face West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke in succession. However, with Europa League fixtures and the versatile Michu able to play up front, the Eredivisie import may be a gamble too far for our crowded forward lines.

I have planned a triple transfer for next gameweek to get Aguero. However I must buy Faye or Rosenior from Hull City. Who should I get from these two? Which one will Chester replace once he comes back?

Yes -- pathetic, isn't it? I had a chance to sort it out with Clyne in for Chester, but decided to go for the high risk / high reward route with Brady > Townsend. Really fancy Townsend to explode this week. Could be a major differential & a nice way to make some team value.

Haha, as long as you have at least 1 starting bench player I think first 11 transfer should generally always take priority. That being said I got Clyne in this week!

Townsend could be great - I'm thinking about either him or Paulinho this week (see below).

I am sure you will. If you look at the squads in our team -- they are all SO similar. Makes picking a starting 7 very tough. So decided to go with a bit of a rotation to make sure everyone gets some playing time. I think it's fair.

Hey Dude, team looks really good. If Rio F doesn't play, you have decent cover in Terry. The only thing I may be tempted to do would be Lampard > Paulinho / Townsend as Spurs have 3 pretty decent fixtures. But your planned transfers for next week sound a lot better. Sound plan.

Thoughts on Barkley and Coleman? For Everton's away games, I'm never quite sure which to start. The Villa fixture gives me the faint hope of a cleanie so Coleman seems the right pick, but Villa are always prone to conceding and Barkley plays in the hole.

Pienaar back will make Everton stronger and while that should benefit Baines down the left, does it mean Barkley will get more chances or Coleman's CS is more likely? Definitely over thinking this!

    So, Barkley or Coleman?

Without a doubt -- Barkley. Everton are poor defensively, chance of an away clean sheet vs. Villa with Benteke back are very slim. Barkley is playing in advanced positions, getting plenty of shots, and Villa are leaky.

But you could do Nolan > Hazard next week & keep Sturridge if you wanted to? I am just saying it gives you optionality should Aguero be rested for example. I did get Townsend to cover the next 3 Spurs fixtures, but I had no way of getting Silva without multiple hits.

That's true - do you think CHE cover is more important than City from next week though? NOR, sun is pretty plum from a City perspective. I would captain Aguero next week if I got him.

But, good point re waiting. If Aguero starts in the League Cup for example then it's probably too big a risk to bring him in.

I know the Hull fixture is tempting but not sure I'd want Paulinho long term, in which case it's a wasted FT.

You have to weigh that up with Nolan who is a bit of a driftwood at the minute - I'd rather see you go with Nolan to Hazard or Silva, and consider Suarez > Aguero, if you must?

Yeah, Paulinho would be a short term transfer I'd probably only play for 2 weeks (GW9&11) before getting rid, so I think I'm ruling that one out.

Nolan -> Hazard this week and Suarez -> Aguero next week is doable. But losing Suarez is difficult.

Thinking of saving this week and then Sturridge -> Aguero next week.

Ravel/Morrison have AVL next week so not the worst fixture to play one of them. But I agree, Nolan needs to go pretty soon.

Is it worth taking Ward out this gameweek for a 4 point hit? He is in my starting 11 and I can get any defender I like in place of him.Suggestions?

Suffered the eriksen drop and hazard price rise...sigh, all in the hope he will start today and wanted to save my FT.

    Boruc
    Dawson Baines Vidic (burner wilson)
    michu ramsey januzaj eriksen (barkley)
    giroud suarez lukaku.......have 3.4m itb

A: eriksen >> hazard/oscar this gw and vidic+lukaku >> chico + augero(-4) next gw...the only problem is if lukaku does well this gw, not sure which forward to get rid of next gw for augero

B: vidic >> chico this gw and next gw either eriksen>>silva (if lukaku does well) or eriksen+lukaku >> hazard + augero (-4) if lukaku doesnt do well

C: save FT and just do 2 or 3 transfers next gw to get rid of vidic/eriksen/lukaku

Leaning towards C but fear eriksen/vidic are going to drop in price

If you are worried about Erikson you have Barkley on the bench.

2 trannys next week will give you a lot more flexibility

    TM, Lallana vs Amalfitano

    Amalfitano :

    5 Appearances. 2 Goals. 2 Assists

    - Averages 1.4 SpG ( ShotsPerGame ) with a total of 7 shots over his past 5 games. 2nd highest rate at West Brom
    - Pass Success rate of 76.6 %
    - Avg of 3.2 KP per game ( Key passes ) with a total of 16 KP so far. 3rd highest in the league and highest at West Brom.
    - Avg of 1 DpG ( Successful Dribbles per Game ) Total of 11 dribbles unsuccessful or succesful in 5 games
    - Fouled , on average , 1nce per game. ( This might aid in getting assists for converted free kicks )
    - Avg of 3.8 Accurate Cross Per Game ( 19 Acc. Crosses / Total 55 crosses over past 5 app ) This is the highest in the league.
    - Avg of 0.4 Long Balls per Game

    Lallana:

    8 Appearances. 2 Goals. 2 Assists.

    - Averages 1.5 SpG ( With a total of 12 shots over his past 8 games ) 3rd Highest at S'mpton
    - Pass Success rate of 79.5 %
    - Avg of 2.3 KP per game ( with a total of 18 KP so far ) Highest at Southampton
    - Avg of 1.4 Successful DpG ( With a total of 11 Dribbles in past 5 games )
    - Fouled , on average , 2.4 times per game. ( This might aid in getting assists for converted free kicks )
    - Avg of 2 Accurate Cross per Game ( 16 Acc. Crosses / Total 60 crosses over past 8 games ) 2nd highest at Southampton
    - Avg of 0.6 Long Balls per game

    How I interpret this:

I've watched a couple of West Brom games, and Amilfatino looked fantastic. Can't really say I've seen any S'ampton games, so can't judge Lallana from that point of view. From the above, they seem quite pivotal to their team's success.

Lallana seems to get more shots off, not much more though. Lallana's 1.5 SpG to Amil's 1.4 SpG. He also seems to dribble more than Amilfatino, which i take as getting closer to goal to get a shot off. But then again, there isn't much of a difference there either.
Amilfatino looks to have quite a bit more Key Passes per game though. With also a rate of 3.8 Acc. Crosses per game, which is quite a bit higher than Lallana. If you take the amount of games they have played into account, Amilfitano's total crosses of 55 in 5 games, to Lallana's 60 in 8 games, it looks like Amilfitano's getting quite a few more crosses in. Which is expected considering Morgan's Acc. Crosses rate being the Highest in the league.

In summary, I think Amilfatino will start to rack up the assists, and won't let you down in that aspect. His SpG is not very impressive when compared to other players, but it's the 2nd highest at West Brom. So I guess, if anyone scores a goal for them, he does have a decent chance of being the goal scorer. Same goes for Lallana, from the stats you can see that if Southampton scores, there's a very high chance that he'll be involved in some way or another.

Down to price if you ask me, so Amiltatino wins IMO. Even without the price factor, I think I would go with him, not much in it though. His regular assist potential + price difference is what does it for me

Not a very decisive piece of research, but hopefully it helps you make your decision. 😉

You've already copped 2 price drops from Eriksen. Might as well keep him for the home game against Hull, before bringing in Hazard for him next week.

      Same goes for Vidic.
