Manchester United have this morning confirmed the departure of manager David Moyes. After heavy speculation over the last 24 hours, the Scotsman has paid the price for a dire run of results which sees the club sit in seventh place in the Premier League with just four matches remaining:

Sunday’s loss to former club Everton was the eleventh time the champions have tasted defeat in a season that has seen Moyes’ side break records for all the wrong reasons. Whilst United fans will be looking for a fresh start next term, Fantasy managers have more pressing matters on their minds, with the Red Devils set to play three times at Old Trafford in the next two Gameweeks.

Under Moyes, United have won just seven of their 16 home fixtures and scored a mere 22 times – fewer than Stoke and West Ham, for example – but with Norwich, Sunderland and Hull still set to make their way to Old Trafford, they have a chance to finish the season with a flourish.

Our faith in the likes of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata now looks set to take a turn for the better in light of this breaking news, as the Red Devils attempt to put their toils behind them. It’s believed Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs as the Old Trafford board looks to quickly draw a line under the unsuccessful tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson’s hand-picked successor, with the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Louis Van Gaal, Laurent Blanc and Carlo Ancelotti all amongst the bookies’ early favourites to take the helm.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

How will Moyes's sacking effect Manchester United for the remaining games of the season. Which players are not on your radar? Will it mean a recall for the likes of Vidic and Ferdinand in defence? What of Fellaini? And will Danny Welbeck now get more starts and present himself as a great differential for Gameweek 37?

Change in formation = the right players in the right position
Change in tactics = defend well and attack more. Put Fellaini on the bench.

I think they may do better.

These games aren't exactly important for United though, these are the games where they try to work on the balance of the team.

If you're going to bench Rooney then you have absolutely no choice other than to look to offload him in the summer. You can't have the BPL's top earner sitting on the bench no matter who you are. You're paying him that money for a reason.

Tbh I think he should go. He never deserved 100k a week more than suarez, aguero, yaya, silva etc. That contract was a mistake. He cannot run past anyone anymore. He has to come deep all the time. No balance to the team when he does that. Might as well not have bought Mata.

The real question: is RVP about to return, and will Giggs play him? I guess he had a sort of drift with Moyes, and mighty do well with Giggs.

RVP may turn out to be essential for the rest of the season.

He will kill the balance of your team and will require several hits. I strongly think he won't be ready for the DGW. Rooney and Mata are what you need for the last 4 matches

I could afford Lukaku -> RVP without a hit right now.

On a side note, with the transfers I have to take for my injured midfielders I'm taking hits anyway, that leaving me actually with more money as my current injured midfielders are more expensive than their potential replacements.

I like DDG, Mata, Roo and Welbz as options.

I just got in Mata and Roo, hoping a bit of freedom in their attacking play will help.

      - No "Moyes Out" agenda hanging over players.
      - No negative pressure in remaining games.
      - Chance to show their worth to the world without Moyes.
      - Nice DGW.
      - Morale boost with Giggsy in charge probably.

All the stories suggest moyes was clearly out of his depth from the beginning. Telegraph give the example of him making the players running along a popular beach in sydney, unaware that this would result in the players being mobbed...

His authority was undermined from the get-go. Would a transition year with Fergie still in charge and Moyes as his assistant have been a better way to bed him in? Everyone said he wouldn't accept that step-down but it would have worked so much better in the long-run

Very few of the man united squad can honestly say they have given their all for David Moyes, the failure of the club is down to a whole host of reasons

    1) No one working alongside fergie over last few seasons to take over
    2) Fergie never strengthened the midfield over the last 5 years
    3) David Gill leaving at the same time
    4) Woodward being naive in the transfer market
    5) Primadonna players

I really don't see too much call for celebration here. United have a relatively poor squad who were getting results against the lower half teams but were being mauled by well drilled teams. They have nothing to play for while Norwich are battling for survival. And they have a manager who has no experience. I will defer my decision to bring Rooney in.

absolutely sickens me when people blame sir alex for united's demise. bbc's football writer phil mcnulty, who i had a lot of time for until now, has said that fergie has to 'share the blame.' it absolutely makes my blood boil to hear such a legend and servant being talked about like this. Im not going to pretend that appointing moyes was a good decision but here's the point: Sir alex ferguson owes manchester united football club NOTHING. 26 years, over 30 trophies, countless memories... we will always be indebted to him, and to him people saying that he jumped ship because he knew he had a bad squad and he didn't care about united's future? then why did he sign wilfried zaha, a player he knew would never play under him? he left because he wanted to live his life, because he owed it to his family. all the real united fans know that we will never be able to thank him enough, because it is the CLUB who owe HIM so so much.
