The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

    Any advice would be great, been tinkering around, not sold on tadic, bojan, chambers and Luis, no money in the bank

    Think tadic will do well, especially with dead ball duties and playing in the hole...tore it up at Twent, but could go Barkley (eve) for 0.5 less
    Chambers only for a week or 2, but could downgrade PVA to a 4.0 and turn chambers into lovren if I go Barkley above
    Bojan has great fixtures and is cheap and guaranteed 90 mins IMO, good form too...otherwise gabby for the same price...but he is useless lol
    Luis is a rotation risk but I really see Chelsea's first choice back 4 as Luis, Cahill, Ivanovic and Terry
    Very happy with the rest if the squad but open to hearing where my holes are, and what options are there for my dilemmas.

      maybe drop chambers if the plan is to get rid of him 1-2 games- that way you won't waste transfers to use elsewhere based on results etc?

          difficult one... I had luis, but jose loves azpi and ivan is class. i reckon if he begins with luis then get him in. but cahill is certain pick. but not sure on his attacking returns compared to the others. rumours are mourinho is going to be more attacking, so may drop chels defense as liverpool and spurs have cheaper options. sorry for the essays...

      IMO looks pretty good 8/10. I have Hendo and no sterling but I am hesitant about the Young option, might want to upgrade to Mata or Herrera. However, I have not seen Herrera play much so I am not sure but I heard he is pretty good. As a man city fan I like Dzeko over Jovetic, however Jove was killing it in preseason.

        ok cheers. As liverpool fan sterling dominted preseason and is playing where sturridge played last season... But hendo is going to get more forward apparently. ye i normally hate young, although his preseason form has been good and shaw being injured... but i agree. But who would you downgrade to get mata in? ye by the looks of it dzeko is a safer bet, but jove could be cheeky bet...

    I feel comfortable with my forwards, midfielders and goalkeeper and have options to change for similar £8m-£10m players like Sterling, Nasri, Silva and Hazard should any of them not be delivering. Begovic looks like a solid all season pick and goalkeeper points don’t spread so much compared to outfield players.

    My concern is the defence. I worry that picking either Luis or Azpilicueta could backfire are one of these two is at risk of not starting in and at £6m it feels like a gamble. I also have a concern about Man Utd’s defence plus Liverpool’s tough games in the first 6 GW's.

    Therefore I think the best teams for defence will be Stoke, Hull, Southampton and WBA in terms of reasonable fixtures and slightly cheaper players in the first few GW's.
