The Community Round Up

Forget the age old debate of form versus fixture, the key issue in our community articles and hot topics this week was Fantasy versus real football form. Slick passers, Fantasy Premier League rule changes and intriguing differentials were also under discussion as we prepare for one of the least anticipated double Gameweeks on record. As ever, we catch up with the latest members tables and community tournaments as well as hear some welcome news about the health of a much-respected community veteran.

The Community Articles

The Puntmaster is enjoying an incredible purple patch in his mission to find the best punts each week. In the last two Gameweeks five out of six of his differentials have delivered. Dare you ignore his Gameweek 31 contenders?

There are some more punts to consider in Gameweek 31 in Matthew_1991’s excellent preview of the next set of fixtures and looking further ahead AZ has been looking at the best budget midfielders to consider for the run in.

While Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy form continues to be called into question, Ruth_NZ urges against mistaking this for a dip in real form. He argues that the Manchester City man is continuing to perform well, albeit in a position on the pitch that reduces his Fantasy points scoring potential.

The Hottest Topics

The lack of excitement for Gameweek 31’s double fixtures for QPR and Aston Villa was laid bare in our discussion on transfer plans. Doolittle, Beavis and Daniel West were among the many who responded who are set to go into Gameweek with just one player with two fixtures.

Instead there is more enthusiasm for the in-form single Gameweek options, in particularly from Manchester United, according to AA7’s discussion on the Red Devils, as well as Liverpool’s resurgent second half of the season.

On a similar theme as Ruth NZ’s community article, there was plenty of discussion on form in our hot topic on the differences between Fantasy and real football. For Ryan, playing Fantasy football enhances his enjoyment and understanding when watching matches, while for Moin, Fantasy football has made watching potentially tedious mid-table scraps worth persevering with.

When Paul Scholes was in his prime, there was no doubting his consistently good real life and Fantasy football form. The former Manchester United midfielder was among a host of slick passers as AA7 took us on a trip down memory lane to remember some of the great midfielders of all time.

As well as recalling international greats such as Socrates, this week’s international break also gave the community the chance to look at potential rule changes for FPL next season. In our discussion on the subject more points for goalkeepers was a popular call, made by Mndgms among others.

Finally, Beric popped by with another update about the progress of community veteran Doosra, who has been hospitalised with a serious illness for a number of weeks. Thankfully, Doosra is continuing to recover and there was further welcome news when Mondogoal announced it is running a special competition this weekend to raise money for Doosra’s family or a charity of their choice.

The Members Tables

Members will be more than familiar with our ICT index, which brings together player’s influence, creativity and threat statistics. JKisthe1 has been taking a closer look at the index this week to find the best performers in midfielder over the last four matches.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Going into Gameweek 31 Grahame Fiddler had taken the outright lead in the FFS January Wildcard League, having scored 664 points in the last ten Gameweeks. He is now in the top 500 overall. Meanwhile, Aaron Thorburn still leads the Top 10k Any Season mini-league. Both these competitions are managed by community regular RedLightning.

The FFS UEFA group was also on hand for an update on their group tournament based around the Cricket World Cup.
