Welcome to our annual attempt to select the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will pan out.

Unlike previous attempts, last year saw a number of successful predictions from the Scouts. Granville was correct in predicting a stellar debut season for Diego Costa, Danny Ings and Gylfi Sigurdsson, while Jordan Henderson rewarded my faith in him as a budget midfielder.

Naturally we didn’t get it right all the time and there were some noticeable horror predictions. Andre Schurrle’s departure from Chelsea meant Mark’s guess that he would be the year’s best differential proved ill-fated. Nikica Jelavic, meanwhile, failed to live up to the hype generated by Ryan as being the top scoring budget forward of the year.

Here’s the link if you want to remind yourself just how reliable our soothsaying powers can be.

Hopefully in our latest predictions for the forthcoming Premier League our embarrassing picks will be consigned to the past for good.

    So it comes down to this. I have struggled all day thus far, but I've got commitments meaning I'll be out for the final 4 hours before the deadline, so it's decision time:

    Ruddy || Butland
    xxx || xxx || Huth || Francis || Coates
    Haz || Wally || Mane || xxx || Fletcher
    Roo || xxx || xxx

    A) Mert, Cedric, Mahrez, Tekkers, Kane

    B) Mert, Azpi, Ozil, Tekkers, Wilson

    C) Azpi, Cedric, Milner, Kane, Sakho

    Impossible to say with any certainty. But first impressions, which would you pick?

    Would very much appreciate any feedback/assistance.

      There aren't many. If you can stump up the cash - Mahrez at 5.5 offers good value I think. At 5...my pick for this season's emerging star is Rolando Aarons. Yes, I'm a Newcastle fan, but it's not an entirely baseless hope.

            If I remember correctly Bruce went a little crazy in the transfer window and there was too much competition by the end of August. Thats the trouble with these predictions.

          0.5 went missing somewhere. Obviously the first option looks better but where is that 0.5?

            Good point Ryan, guess I can do 5.5m mid.

            Already have Sinclair, Walcott hazard and sterling fwiw
            Rooney & tekkers up front

              0.5 can do a lot. Doesn't necessarily have to be spent on that midfielder.

    GK- Schmeichel(Myhill)
    DEF- Azpili, Mertesacker, Coates/cedric(Gomez,huth)
    MID- Haz, Wally, Mane, (Mahrez/fletcher, Sinclair)
    ATT- Kane, Rooney, Lukaku/Sakho

    hmm..Benteke is a good price even at 9m so I'm almost willing to see how Liverpool do first before jumping in..a lot has changed in their structure..
