Fantasy managers are treated to three more fixtures this evening as double Gameweek 37 comes to a potentially dramatic conclusion. First up in the earlier kick-offs, Norwich entertain Watford and Sunderland go head-to-head with Everton at the Stadium of Light as the battle to beat the drop intensifies.
After seeing off Chelsea on Saturday, Sam Allardyce’s men are in the driving seat as they look to seal top-flight survival for another season. The Black Cats have scored seven times in their previous four but, like their visitors, sit inside the bottom five for attempts inside the box over that period, with 24 to the Toffees’ mere 16, which is joint-bottom along with Palace.
In terms of defensive data, though, Sunderland have every reason for optimism tonight. Everton have allowed their opponents a massive 63 shots inside the box in the previous four – that’s at least 19 more than any side and almost double their hosts’ 32.
Four points behind the Black Cats with two matches remaining, Norwich are in need of a miracle. The Canaries are the only side that have failed to find the net in their last quartet of league fixtures, though the defensive numbers on offer from visitors Watford afford Alex Neil’s side a degree of hope – the Hornets sit second-bottom for shots conceded inside the box (44).
In the later kick-off, Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head at Anfield. Despite making numerous alterations to his recent team sheets as a result of Europa League exertions, Jurgen Klopp’s side still lead the way for attempts on goal over their last four – a total of 80 is some distance ahead of their visitors’ 49. Furthermore, the Merseysiders also better the Blues for efforts in the box (41 to 33) as they look to clinch victory in their final Anfield fixture of the season.
