With just a few days to go until the launch of Euro 2016, the community has been full of useful advice on selecting the key targets for our Fantasy squads. There’s a wealth of guidance from our hot topics posters and the launch of our 2016/17 Membership, which includes internationals data for the first time, has also helped ensure there is some solid statistics for Members table creators to get their teeth into. For our community writers, issues closer to home took precedence as they look back at last season’s chips and ahead to the prospects of the three newly-promoted teams to the Premier League.

The Community Articles

Domestic matters dominated our community articles this week with Kings of Lyon unveiling the final analysis from his Going Out With a Bang league. This was set up to find out how the FFScout community used their chips during the season run in and reveals that those backing Romelu Lukaku in particular were left counting the cost.

Red Lightning, who this week joined the FFScout moderators’ team, has been looking ahead to next season by updating his promoted teams analysis. Stretching back to 2010, this research now includes an assessment of what Hull, Burnley and Middlesbrough can expect from top flight football in 2016/17.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

For our hot topic posters, European matters ruled supreme. Eden Hazardous has been unearthing a raft of key stats for those playing Euro 2016 Fantasy Football to mull over, while Lyonnais has kept on top of the current tournament template that is emerging among the FFScout community.

But not everyone is sticking to the template script. RuthNZ is among those considering investing in Germany’s often benched but shot happy differential Andre Schürrle?

Elsewhere in the community’s Euro 2016 preparation the search for good value defenders continues.

For those looking for more pricey options Spain’s premium picks came under discussion as did whether cutting corners on cost is advisable.

Roy Hodgson’s team selection, which involved omitting Premier League winner Danny Drinkwater and in-form winger Andros Townsend, raised a few eyebrows. The community delivered their verdict on Roy’s choices while we also considered whether England is worthy of Fantasy managers attention irrespective of who plays.

With Hull’s play-off victory securing promotion last weekend, there was still time to get some early preparation in for next season’s Premier League. Mark sparked a discussion on whether yo-yo clubs Hull and Burnley can actually maintain their top flight status in 2016/17.

The Members Tables

This week we unveiled our new season membership which this year includes international data to help pick your Euro 2016 sides. Already those who have snapped up 2016/17 Membership have been busy creating a raft of tables to select the best options during qualifiers and friendlies.

Doosra has created this look at the best defenders, midfielders and deadliest strikers. Among Cheesoid’s tables are his look at those teams that have conceded the most big chances as well as goal scoring defenders. Meanwhile, Fantasy Football Frog has also taken a look at dodgy defences, and some of the strikers and midfielders who are set to profit when they meet them.

For those playing DraftKings Euro 2016 game I’ve constructed this table looking at the high flyers in key scoring categories such as crossing and winning tackles. I’ve also made a table looking at the tournament’s best set-piece takers.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

I have decided he is not going to play OOP.

Motta and De Rossi are nailed in the Italian midfield leaving one spot between Candreva and Giaccherini. Candreva is the better player.

I can see the EURO 2016 being much like the BPL 2015/16; none of the previously strong teams look appealing any more and those with strong squads on paper have never amounted to much as a team in a major tournament (i.e. Belgium, England).

EURO 2016 looks all to play for!

the attack end of team is very good on paper mostly due to the form of Kane, Alli and Vardy. But if Woy plays Vardy and Alli out wide or goes with Rooney over Alli then what difference does it make?

Looking forward to seeing the next Germany and Spain lineups to shake up my team. Specifically will be looking at Morata and Nolito for Spain. And for Germany, to see if Gomez looks to be the starter, and if that makes Muller not worth it

    1. Netley Lucas
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 8 days ago

Muller isn't by nature an out-and-out centre-forward anyway. By all accounts (and memory) he's best playing wider or off the striker, so playing on the right of a "front 3" won't make him 'not worth it' imho.

      1. Lucy.
        • 12 Years
        10 years, 8 days ago

Agreed. He's never been a natural at leading a line - think of the Klose days. It doesn't stop him scoring goals.

Completely disagree. He has ever been at his best in central positions despite having had to initially start out wide at the top level. He's simply quite limited as a winger, but finds great chances and shots in the danger zone and should be put to play there.

        *gives up*

However from what I see the substitution between matches mechanic favours a midfield (or even whole team) where money is spread out and all players are guaranteed to play.

As opposed to having a cheap 4.5m mid like I did before.

Correct me if I am wrong...?

Cheers! Mandzukic is an interesting one. I think he is worth the punt. I love all tall strikers as Fantasy Options (See Giroud , benteke etc.) and Croatia do have a solid midfield to provide him with chances. If I get Mandzuic , I might even do Perisic > Hamsik but then I fear we will have (almost) same teams. 😆

I don't see the logic for a cheap bench. Not a fan.

You converted me on that but fantasy football is not as fun when I agree you with you or Doosra 😉

There's a lot of value in the game and I would seriously consider spreading the money round a lot more. When you can sub blankers out within the same 'matchday'....that's gold. Last thing you want is to look at the bench and realise it's someone who is benched.

Cheers! Glushakov is supposedly a starter, it's just Rafa who I'm considering upgrading somehow

No, it was last year, 2015, against Denmark I think. He's been dropped because of injuries, bad form, and good form of those (mostly Payet) who replaced him.

His club , Lyon have had the best spells in the league without him in the starting XI as well

That's exactly what we call his bad form. He's not been too good for OL. I think that's largely caused by his injuries and problems off the field (that blackmailing case).

    Sommer (Anthony lopes)

Williams Denayer Dier ( dragovic jedrezjcyk)

KDB Perisic Pogba Ozil (Rafa silva)

    Bale Kane Morata

Is there a way of fitting lewandowski into the team without changing things too much, also I want to keep bale in the team

I'm not sure if denayer is nailed on to start, but he is a cheap way into the Belgium back line if he does

    Hello all!

This team is 0.5 over budget. What would you do. Stanciu could come in but for who? Or something else?

    Patricio Sommer
    Alba Hinteregger Schar Rami Denayer
    Ozil Fabregas Perisic Junuzovic Grosiki
    Morata Giroud Muller

yep! It's mad. I am heading out to powerscourt today!

My girlfriend got very flukey and picked the week gone for her week off, I only have a few bits of evening work so we really made the most of it, beach, drives, parks, sun burn, Teddy's ice-cream!

      It's been epic.

Belgium in Euros: Marc Wilmots has rethought everything. He now says Toby Alderweireld will play CB at the Euros with Denayer at RB.With Thomas Vermaelen injured, Wilmots says Vertonghen will play CB as well vs Norway, with Jordan Lukaku at LB.

Wilmots adds for Euros, he will go with Denayer, Toby, Vermaelen & Vertonghen. But anything could happen, probably will.

So Vermaelen in squad, but not playing since injured? Ok.

Seen that Verm is injured and he plays Vert as CB; he really has no choice but to play Lukaku on left. Which is probably good for them.

    RMT

    Kozacik

    Denayer Sivok Corluka

    Pogba KDB Ozil Mak Perisic

    Giroud Kane

Rui Patricio Janko Dragovic Bruno Alves

This is my 3rd post and I think I am close. After trying to include Muller, Ibrahimovic, I decided to stick with my initial picks, Giroud and Kane.
Picked Mak, Perisic and Janko mainly because of what I've read here. Thanks a lot!
Started with Matuidi and really want to have him or Pogba, but somehow I shifted towards Pogba, I got a feelling. (I could go for Matuidi again and use the extra 1.5, if there is an obvious improvement.)
Love Ozil and I really like the fact that I can include KDB from Belgium.

I have 0.5 left and I don't know where to spend it: Denayer, Dragovic or Kozacik ? I don't think I can find a better 6.5 then Mak.

Or upgrading Bruno Alves to a 5.5: Juanfran, Schar?
