Friday’s second Euro 2016 match sees the Czech Republic meet Croatia, one of the tournament’s most attacking sides so far.

In overcoming Turkey 1-0 in their opening Group D clash Ante Cacic’s side had an impressive 19 goal attempts.

In sharp contrast, the Czech Republic, could only muster six attempts on goal in their 1-0 opening game defeat to Spain. If Pavel Vrba’s side do not score today this will be the first time they have failed to register a goal in two consecutive European Championships games. Their last draw in 90 minutes at the European Championships came in their Euro 96 goalless semi-final against France. They eventually won that match on penalties, only to lose to Germany in the final.

This is the first competitive meeting between the two sides. In their two friendly encounters, which took place in 1996 and 2011, Croatia have the edge winning both times.

A very impetuous 9/2 , I could have got much bigger elsewhere. Had £50 on it and was banging on about it on here before the tournament started. Although it's not yet a done deal I hope a few others chucked a bit on.

Not sure if I'm following. That would mean Spain 7 points, Croatia 5 points and Czech Republic possibly 4 if they win their next game. That shoudl be enough to make it to the next round

If Ireland don't beat Belgium tomorrow, then Italy have won the group. Unlike France/Germany/Spain if they win, they'll have nothing to play for in the last match. Think they're the only likely source of rotation in the final round of group matches.

Tough to get rid of them with Ireland to play and price rises imminent for Giaccherini, Bonucci and Candreva. Maybe not the best idea to get them in, though.

Surely you can't keep a player on wildcard when they won't play just for the sake of catching price rises.

Croatian fan earlier today on a message board:

"A small fraction of Torcida (Hajduk Split's fan base) wanted to infiltrate the stadium with the help from St Etienne fans and cause a disturbance in order to stop the game and get Croatia thrown out of the tournament.

Their hatred for Mamić is such that they'd ruin this for everyone in Croatia in order to get to Mamić. Don't know if they are dumb beyond belief or just insane. In doing this, they pretty much put themselves on level footing with Mamić and his henchmen, putting their priorities and ideas ahead of everyone else. Maybe they should stop worrying about Mamić and clean up their own shop, and get rid of the cesspool of countless managers who are running Hajduk into the ground?

Meanwhile, sane Croatian fans (which is 99.9%) are drinking and enjoying themselves along with the Czech supporters just like they were with the Turks a handful of days ago."
