Inevitably, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stalks Episode 195 of the ScoutCast. Lauding over us like a Eric Cantona wannabe, the big Swede has wasted know time in getting Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself all in a tizzy.

Do you dare go without the Zlatan/Aguero double act? How do you adapt your midfield to accommodate the pricey pair? Will a wolf enter the Scout hut and interrupt the broadcast?

These questions and more are all answered over the course of another 70 minutes, as Jonty serves up our first “Rough with the Smooth” Gameweek tales from the community, before throwing us the best of your questions gathered throughout the week.

In other news, we’re still 100 episodes short of Last of the Summer Wine’s 295. Stick with us guys, we’re nearly almost there. Coincidentally, we also stopped being funny back in episode three.

This episode was first broadcast via YouTube on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the heads up on future live episodes.

You can view the full Google Hangout version of this episode via the second player below or stream the edited audio from this link or the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A. Sterling,Pogba,Ozil

    Or

    B. Snodgrass,Ibra,Redmond

I'm thinking A at the moment, I know Ibra will out score Pogba but I can see sterling and ozil out scoring Snodgrass and Redmond

I'm sure there's a better 8.5 or less midfielder than pogba
Alli, Eriksen, coutiniho / Firmino, Oscar all better choices

Which one of Oscar, Lamela or Firmino would you bin for Barkley??

Is it madness going without Aguero and Ibra this week, would require me getting rid of Costa at home to Burnley and one of the above...

    1) Rondon - Gradel - Evans - Pickford - 4.1 def
    2) Stuani - Redmond - Friend - Foster - 4.5/4.6 def

I have Jaku as 2nd keeper and happy to roll with Pick/Jaku for the time being.
    Already have Amat.

I prefer 1 but I think 2 is more balanced (IF Stuani starts)
At least all in 1 will start apart from the def which will be always benched (Assuming Howe realises Gradel is their best player)

I didn't want this whole OfiicialFPL twitter and their facebook videos etc to bother me, but it does a bit. They aren't even just hinting at potential good picks/strategies, they are straight up telling people who the best players to go for are and why. And this is just 2 weeks into the season, imagine what it's going to be like later on when more data is available and the hidden gems that we work hard on finding are laid on a plate for everyone. It's completely taking the excitement out of delving deeper into stats and having in depth discussions about players when it's all being condensed into convenient, bite-sized, 140 character aeroplanes that are flown into the mouths of the masses.

I will still buy a membership to this site, as I still appreciate it and everything Mark and the rest of the scouts have done in past years and still continue to do. And I don't even blame Mark for going mainstream with this stuff, it makes sense for him to do so. But for us anoraks on here that are so used to putting in a little bit more effort than our rivals to gain a competitive edge, it feels like our time in the sun is coming to an end.

I suppose we will just have to try harder 😉

    1. Worzel Gummidge
      9 years, 11 months ago

It is an absolute joke tbh. Just taking the work here and publishing it on FPL. Think Mark really needs to come out with some sort of official statement or else their wont be many paying customers next year when you can get most of the product for free. Caveat: I am not a member 🙂

I have always got membership to support the site. Not sure it needs supporting anymore though. Will have to weigh up what you get from the membership, at first glance this includes a less functional ticker and some of the stats being removed and added to FPL

People WC'ing this early must have a screw lose, so picking 2 x crap 4.0 keepers is consistent with this.

      1. Worzel Gummidge
        9 years, 11 months ago

Crap, yes. Not a good FPL option, debatable. I was only playing Foster every week but if I go 2 x 4.0 GKs I can just get a WBA def. Those keepers are gash but plenty save points and it is not like WBA will shut every team out.

Think of it this way.. We know what most of the fpl world is going to do before they do it now. So it's easier to pick differentials. It's almost like I can predict what my money league opponent's team and transfers are gonna be(Barkley in this week for sure) so I can outmaneuver him(pogba). Plus it's all about management. We ve grown the patience and know how over the years to avoid bandwagonning and hits.. While all this new info will just drive casuals mad and hit crazy

I have friend and wickham in my squad.

I'm considering going for Rondon or Baines/Williams. Any thoughts?

Wickham is likely to play 60 minutes this week and he scored in the cup. Friend has a great fixture in GW4.

I'm not keeping Wickham for GW4, but i'm thinking he could be a decent player this week. On the other hand, I don't expect much of boro (vs wba) this week and I think Rondon has a fairly high probability of scoring and he will also be a decent player after this week. I think he is better than Negredo
