The Stock Check – Gameweek 8 – Monday

A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Going to keep him for the next couple of fixtures (STO & wat) and reassess, but is the general consensus becoming Snodgrass is no longer a viable 4th mid?

If snoddy scores next week, this will all change. On corners, free kicks and pens, so I'm definitely keeping for hulls fixture run

I wanted Snodgrass a few GWs back but in the end I didn't took him. Now I think the hype and his best form are behind us. I'm much more interested on Bournemouth midfielders (Stanislas or King if he can get a starting role that he deserves).

Southampton will play Inter away on Thursday night. Has Austin usually featured in European games?

I'm looking for how to get him, but fixtures made me concern.

I'm planning to get him too, but only by early december. I don't like his immediate fixtures and am pretty happy with Deeney at the moment.

Hi all, think this is a move lots of people are making - Capoue > Allen

What I am wondering is whether it is worth me doing it myself as well this week? The other players I may need to ship out soon are Baines and/or Pickford, but I think I have adequate cover on my bench for this week. Current squad below, have 1FT left and £0.1m ITB.

    Foster Pickford
    Holebas McAuley Tomkins Baines Cameron
    Walcott Sánchez Capoue Townsend Sterling
    Christian Benteke Lukaku Agüero

    Your thoughts are most appreciated.

Maybe an Arsenal defender instead by getting Townsend off ? Benteke might be off too, idk.

Not sure what you mean here, if I transfer out Townsend then I have to make two transfers to get a defender in and take a point hit, which I don't want to do.

    2. Carlton P
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

Keep Pickford until he gets dropped, if he does, season keeper if not
Save FT and drop Baines + Townsend for Amat +? How much does that leave you?

Again, this doesn't make sense - I only have 1FT so I can't do two swaps without taking a point hit!

currently questionable players in my team are

Jaku/Pickford need to change one of them
    Snodgrass
    Antonio
    Williams

We have 2.6m in the bank and one free transfer to upgrade/replace someone

Am I the only one thinking its a bit late to double up on Arsenal mids (Sanchez and Wally) given its near the end of their good run of fixtures and should instead be looking to double up on Pool mids given their upcoming run?

You missed out United (a) after Spurs. I'd say those fixtures are mixed.

With United and Spurs I'd say the next few are mixed, definitely when comparing to Pool's next 5 gw's, testing the water with Allen as 5th over the next two then tempted to bring in Lallana's, seems to be the spark in Pool's play and can't go wrong over their run of fixtures; or is this just because I can't afford Walcott for that spot aha..

          Obviously makes more sense.

I have gone with Sanchez (C) this week, other fixtures that look as favourable are Arsenal at home to Bournemouth GW16 possibly more open fixture than Middlesbrough, otherwise Liverpool home to Sunderland but that's a lottery.

There isn't much to come between now and GW19 that looks a Hattie candidate, trust your gut.

Is the ML tight? how are you feeling for it?

Just trying to take an advantage but surely have to monitor midweek against ludogorets.

    Stick or Twist?

    Grant (Heaton)
Clyne - Stones - Fuchs (Collins & Amat)
Fer - Antonio - Firmino - Sanchez (Capoue)
    Bony - Aguero - Lukaku

    FT:1, ITB: 0.6
Option A: Do Nothing and bank a free transfer
Option B: Sanchez and Collins >> Ozil and Bellerin
Option C: Antonio and Sanchez >> Walcott and KdB

I'm leaning towards doing nothing as it feels wrong to draft out West Ham players against Sunderland. Bellerin for his attacking returns is tempting but would prefer to wait after the United game to bring him in.
