Suspensions

West Brom’s Jonny Evans became the latest player to topple from the Suspension Tightrope after earning a booking in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Spurs.

Sitting in 8.4% of Fantasy Premier League teams, the Baggies centre-half picked up his fifth caution in the first eight Gameweeks and will now serve a one-match ban away to Liverpool next time out.

There are now nine players sitting just one yellow card short of a suspension.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa remains the main point of concern for Fantasy managers.

Having risen to joint-top of the FPL standings with a seventh goal of the season in Saturday lunchtime’s 3-0 win over Leicester, the Blues’ frontman has been subject to 52,000+ transfers in and now sits in 24.1% of sides ahead of a visit from Jose Mourinho’s Man United on Sunday.

The sceptics amongst us will suggest that Antonio Conte must surely be aware that a booking against the Red Devils would then allow Costa to serve out his suspension in the midweek EFL Cup clash with West Ham.

With that in mind, they’d be no real surprise to see Costa incur the referee’s wrath once again this weekend.

Elsewhere, Watford’s weekend goal hero Jose Holebas, along with Jordan Henderson, Ryan Shawcross and Claudio Yacob also remain on four cautions after successfully navigating Gameweek 8 without incident.

Holebas is the most transferred in defender in the Gameweek after his 15-point haul away to ‘Boro on Sunday but would-be suitors need to be aware that, due to defeat at home to Gillingham in late August, the Hornets are no longer involved in the EFL Cup.

Any booking Holebas therefore receives prior to the cut-off point in Gameweek 19 will ensure he misses Premier League duties.

That quintet are joined by Robert Huth, Marouane Fellaini, Gaston Ramirez and Marko Arnautovic on four yellows apiece after all four were cautioned in the previous round of fixtures.

In terms of new suspensions, Aaron Cresswell will now miss West Ham’s home clash with Middlesbrough after an eventful first appearance of the season.

Finally recovered from a knee injury, the defender was utilised as a wing-back at Selhurst Park and supplied the assist for Manuel Lanzini’s winner. Two quick second-half bookings resulted in a sending off and one-match ban.

Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka is set to start a three-match suspension after being sent off for a reckless lunge on Swansea winger Mo Barrow on Saturday.

Incredibly, that was the Swiss international’s eighth dismissal in just two-and-a-half years, meaning he will miss Gameweeks 9-10 in addition to an EFL Cup encounter with Reading.

They join Andre Gray on the sidelines, with the Burnley striker set to serve out the last of a four-fixture ban this weekend as Sean Dyche’s side welcome Everton to Turf Moor.

i haven't owned ibrahimovic during the whole season but looking to get him in for gw10 onwards (lukaku to ibra).

now priced lower than his entry price and on the decrease, it is the perfect time for me to invest in zlatan

No point in covering the base if he has all the stats but no form in terms of FF points. A lot of his base are dead teams. I sold him a few weeks ago. I wouldn't be against reinstating, but I want to see some real form in terms of goals first.

    Hi guys, what does everyone think of the following players;

    Stanislas
    Lanzini
    Capoue as a 4th mid

Thinking of Capoue & Antonio to the first two and making Capoue my 5th mid. I have 2FT 0itb.

I think Lanzini has a lot of potential. Stanislas has never done it can't see that changing even if doing ok now. Just another Capoue me thinks.

2M itb. 1FT. A few options i'm looking at. No qualms in taking a hit.

    Foster Jaku
    Bellerin Valencia Stones Friend Amat
    Alexis Feo Firmino Bolasie Capoue
    Aguero Benteke Wilson

    a) Bolasie -> Son/Arnie/Lallana for free (which one if u choose a)
    b) Benteke -> Kaku
    c) Foster + Bolasie -> Grant + Alli/Coutinho (-4)
    d) Bolasie to Allen and Benteke to Costa next week

So I asked this question on the last post.

Everyone seems to be talking about doubling up on Arsenal.

However, Man City have a great run of fixtures and Debryne is back from injury.

How are people getting Debryne in? Or is Aguero enough for now?

    Will Sanchez outscore Debryne?

    1. Boris Bodega
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      9 years, 1 month ago

I am biased but I believe Sanchez will outscore KDB, just because of his position on the pitch. However this could all change when Giroud is back to full fitness, so it's all up in the air at the moment.

      1. EspanYOLO
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, In seasons gone by I've always preferred Sanchez.

It's just Debryne's 3 double digit scores and one 6 that make me wonder if this isn't a great time to somehow get him in.

To top it off, Man City have great fixtures now.

A triple is risky I don't think it could have Kun and KDB would just be too expensive Kun Sterling and Nolito still expensive. And you really don't want 3 city mids??

Aguero is my only City player for now.

        Current from 8:

        Walcott, Sanchez, Firmino, Capoue, Allen

        Costa, Aguero, Lukaku

That could be really good if Allen keeps firing. I have double Arsenal and City attack. They and Spurs will score the most.

Sanchez vs middlesbrough (GW9) & vs sunderland (GW10) is just too fruitful.

        Good shout.
Wait and see what Debryne Man City do against Southampton.
I just have a feeling once he hits his stride again we will start to see some big double digit scores again.
Especially as Aguero seems to be missing Pens, can see Debryne taking some potentially?

    6. A.T
      • 15 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

Sanchez is playing upfront so in theory he should outscore KDB. Wether or not that happens remains to be seen. Doubling up on Arsenal allows a cheaper double up with Sterling and Aguero so I'd say that is the way to go for now.

    7. Philman
      • 16 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

On his own, KDB is a great choice, and for me the extra money over Sterling is worth it.. I think KDB vs Sanchez points wise will be pretty similar from now on.

However, for 10m+, I want a captain choice, and with Kun in your side, are you ever going to choose KDB? Having Sanchez + Kun gives you more choice on potential captains.

I am going to ride the next two fixtures with Sanchez and Wally then re-evaluate. KDB doesn't have the best fixtures so can wait until GW11 if necessary. I have found a way to get Kun, Kaku, Austin, KDB, Sanchez, Wally and Firmy by downgrading Bellerin to a 4.5m def, which is tempting for GW11 no hits.

Probably get rid, but I think he said something about wanting to score more goals, so might be worth keeping if you don't have Austin. boufal will get into the starting XI in about 3/4 weeks I reckon so not much threat from him there. They will line up as this soon:

      Austin
      Boufal. Tadic. Redmond

Yes for the attackers, but benching Holebas could bite, however Swansea likely to be tough opponent with the new manager in for first home game

Early days but anything worth a hit? 0.8 ITB

    Heaton
    Mustafi Pieters Amat
    Sanchez Firmino Son Allen
    Kun Costa Lukaku

    Pickford Kone deRoon Evans

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Vertonghen, Holebas, Amat (Friend, Evans)
    Alexis, Walcott, Sterling, Capoue (Marney)
    Kun, Lukaku, Costa

    0.9 itb

Thoughts on the team? Took a -4 to bring in Holebas for Robertson (Antonio to Walcott earlier). Could've waited until next week but didn't want Holebas to go up in value, plus Friend was against Arsenal and Evans is suspended for this week.

      Capoue 4th mid is disasterous.

Think long term yes, but I would be fine giving him 2 more weeks (Swansea and Hull) as 4th mid. Even 1 clean sheet and 1 assist in 2 weeks is 8 points - 4ppg which is tremendous for a 4th mid.

I am 100% moving him out in a few weeks time but giving him these last 2 games (Swansea, Hull) in my lineup instead of on my bench.

You took a hit to save a 0.1 rise but have 0.9 ITB ?

Cheers, it's just that as soon as I got Antonio, he didn't get any points, afraid same will happen with Walcott 🙁

Was thinking of saving a transfer this week, but now considering Antonio (SUN) to Lallana (WBA) this week. Who do you think will score more?

There is no way of knowing , the only certainty is one will lose you money, the other will not

Tough one. West Brom are no pushovers and Sunderland are awful. Keep imo

Yeah, I think it's a coin flip. Sunderland are pretty awful, but I'm tempted by Lallana's price at the minute.

It probably isn't worth it atleast this gw but in long it could pay off

        Walcott: MID & sun
        Antonio: SUN & eve

        Tekkers: lei,LIV
        Wilson: TOT,mid

How does this look to people?

    Boruc (Pickford)
    Monreal Holebas Lovren (Amat) (Wilson)
    Sanchez Walcott Lallana Sterling (Whelan)
    Lukaku Aguero Austin

Cashed in on Capoue this week - had him from GW1 so made £.5m by bringing in Whelan - favoured the extra money for a reliable 2/3 pointer rather than giving myself a selection headache and then leaving myself with points on the bench.

Leaves me with £0.8 for a rainy day and thoughts of Sanchez to Coutinho/Firmino in 2 GW's time?

Sound like a plan or is it a fool's game to try plan transfers in advance?

Sterling to Wally for free now or wait till midweek games???????

Wally is rising today so I'm not sure if losing 0.1 is worth the patience to wait till Friday.

So with Baines again a doubt for the trip to Burnley after suffering a setback in his recovery from hamstring injury who is the best defender to get up to 4.8M?

Can't reach Lovren with Walcott in mind.

    Holebas, Smith?
    Anyone else?

    Thanks guys!!!

    Replacing Baines.

    Current defense: Cech - Valencia - Walker - Baines - (Amat - 4.0)
    1.4 ITB

    A) Vertonghen
    B) Bailly
    C) Stones
    D) Holebas

Don't want to get Liverpool defense - they press too high and IMO will concede more often than Spurs/United

I'd get Bailly then if you decided to double up. He attracts some serious baps.
