Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Everything going through KDB for City but he hasn't looked like scoring or assisting. Pass before the final ball every time.

In general he hasn't, he's been orchestrating the build up not providing the finishing touch. Missed the first ten minutes fair enough but a valid comment thereafter.

How's Kun doing? Or is it all about Jesus & KDB?

Actually, on that note, anyone going KDB, Kun, Jesus for GW1 to see how it goes for 3 weeks until early WC?

Thoughts on the team I'm currently set on?

    De Gea
    Alonso Kompany Yoshida Pied
    Salah Mkhitaryan Willian Zaha
    Kane Aguero
    (Elliot Hunemeier T.Carroll Quaner)

Keep switching between [Kompany, Mkhitaryan, Zaha, Aguero] and [Danilo, KdB, Herrera, Lukaku]

    Thanks!

Leicester's FIRST premier league games over the last 3 years.

    1) 2016/17

    Hull City 2-1 Leicester City

Leicester got off to a very disappointing start last season conceding two goals to a very poor hull city team who even got relegated while only managing a penalty themselves.

    2) 2015/16

    Leicester City 4-2 Sunderland

Who can forget leicester's miracle season and it started off brilliantly with this rout against sunderland. Once again though they conceded 2 goals and were at home this time.

    3) 2014/15

    Leicester City 2-2 Everton

As you can see, in their first game over last three years, leicester have conceded TWO GOALS in every one

I conclude that arsenal will win against leicester by scoring two goals ----> Lacazette Brace.

Walker could match/exceed Alonso's output and once Mendy is settled in, that pair could be devastating.

Walker is not known to score as much as Alonso - think he'll do well, but not through goals. it's those 8 point bad boys that make Alonso worth £7m

Yeah Utd & Spurs definitely -Lukaku & Kane also essential. Haz is on pens for Chelsea & morata hasn't even scored 50 league goals in his career so not Chelsea. Last season Kun missed penalties & lost them to Yaya, then Jesus took one towards the end, and neither are nailed on so not city either (although Jesus looks very close to it). So Lacazette/Kane/Kaku the ideal fwd line imo with KDB for city's attack. Although would like to fit Jesus as well. Not too bothered about Kun, think his best FPL days are behind him sadlly.

We have one more week to prepare. I'm going to rotate the team a lot. Some guys will play the first game and other guys will rotate the second"

Just confirms what we already know I suppose

    Midfielders...

What should be my order of priority when it comes to a draft league?

Finding it tough with Alli, KDB, Eriksen, Sanchez, Hazard, Mane etc. Can't help but feel Sanchez is being wrongly ignored.

I think it's more likely they try for Mbappe - no way Monaco would refuse €200-250M bid for him.

    In case anyone hasn't seen

Conte when asked if any players would not be playing.‘Only two players, Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko, they are working to try to recover very soon but they are not available for Sunday’s game,’ he said.

‘No, it’s too early,’ he added, when asked if the duo would be ready for next week’s Premier League opener against Burnley. ‘We have to wait and be patient. They are improving a lot from their injuries in terms of their physical condition, but they are not ready to start the season.

‘Eden, as you know, has an ankle problem. After surgery it’s important to respect the right time to recover. Bakayoko had surgery in his knee and he is working very well.’

Not specifically but if GW1 is too early then maybe up to 1st international break. He won't rush them i.e. for Spurs away GW2. Also "they are not ready to start the season."

Not familiar with the Palace/Southampton keeper rotation, but Hennessey should be starting over Speroni. Would probably look somewhere other than Huddersfield for your 5th defender.

Speroni basically a filler - not expected to play.

If you're never going to play him, why not go for a 4.0? As for Speroni, I didn't realize he was a 4.0. I'm going with Myhill as my filler keeper because I bet most of his ownership is pairing him with Foster and won't drop him unless on a WC, but if you have a reason for going with Speroni, I guess he's fine.

Lukaku's ownership makes him a must have. Kane can be a slow starter so one option may be to start with Jesus with enough funds to upgrade to Kane once he has located his shooting boots.

Or must have not. Playing base on ownership is arguably a defensive strategy. A more aggressive play, an equally valid, is to actually go contra-ownership, looking for a differentiator that allows one's rank to rise above the average. Depends on one's risk appetite.

Not arguing with that at all, it is a totally defensive strategy! But once a player gets over 40% ownership my nerves get shredded.

But even with Lukaku in the team there is still room to get aggressive, e.g sacrificing the traditional 6.5 defender for a 4.5 and splashing that cash in midfield or up front. Last season the opening games were a goal-fest with just two clean sheets, so it's a potentially good risk to take.

And at least Lukaku not the most expensive striker. Aguero being essential used to be a budget planning nightmare.
