The penultimate fixture of the packed festive schedule gets underway at 7.45pm as Arsenal and Chelsea go head-to-head at the Emirates.

For the hosts, Alexis Sanchez has upped his output in recent weeks – after a slow start to the season, last term’s top scoring player in Fantasy Premier League has delivered points in seven of his last 10 league appearances.

That form suggest that the Chilean is likely to pose the main danger to a defence that’s conceded just four times in their previous 11.

Nonetheless, it’s Alexandre Lacazette who is the Gunners’ most captained player for Gameweek 22, handed the armband by 2.02%.

The Frenchman has been a consistent source of points at home, producing a goal or assist in seven of his 10 appearances, but he’s struggled for a cutting edge of late and failed to find the net since Gameweek 15.

A return to form could reignite interest in Lacazette ahead of four kind fixtures (bou CRY swa EVE) in as many Gameweeks.

Despite a run of two goals in the last nine Gameweeks, Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata (3.7%) is the top armband pick for this fixture.

That lack of form means that the Spaniard and team-mate Eden Hazard were among the top five most transferred out players for Gameweek 22, sent packing by 243,000+ and 207,000+ respectively.

Hazard has mustered just a single assist in five yet both he and Morata also have some decent fixtures ahead to arrest their recent declines – over the next five Gameweeks, Antonio Conte’s side host Leicester, Bournemouth and West Brom and also make their way to Brighton and Watford.

Encouragingly for Hazard’s owners, he looks set to return to a central role with the visitors rolling out a 3-5-1-1 formation.

The Gunners, meanwhile, welcome back Mesut Ozil from a minor knee problem, though injuries in defence means that Arsene Wenger is forced to field the likes of Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles in his starting line-up.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Holding to players in bad form just because they have supposedly good fixture(s) to come is the one big mistake of FPL. You end up holding for players who blank 5-6 gameweeks and then jump on an old wagon, a player who scored well during those gameweeks and will then slow back. And that's how you lose 50-60 pts in your ML.

Don't mind fixtures, form is everything.

            8 years, 6 months ago

Generally agree but he blanked in 2 games, the third was an injury and the fourth a rest resulting from it.

Morning lads, just looking for some thoughts on my team moving forward....feel like I'm unsure what path to take or formation to get?

    1 FT 0.2m ITB

    Speroni Hennessy
    Otamendi Gomez Mee Kenny Daniels
    Sterling Salah Son Eriksen Arnautovic
    Kane Firmino Depoitre

    A) Bring Aguero in going 343 with 3 heavy hitters
    B) Bring Aguero in for Kane/Firmino and stick 352
    C) Forget Aguero and sort DF first
    D) Forget Aguero and sort MD first

Thoughts on this if you please. Obviously a hit may be needed or a saved FT this week but would love to hear some comments

I know, I am also considering him in - I think best plan is to downgrade a couple now so you have the cash to bring him in for Firm if City don't sign another striker. They do have cash, and only one fit striker.

Thinking of cashing out my gains on Otamendi:
    Otamendi -> Stones + 1.0
Which gives me a total of 1.4 to upgrade DC-L.

Stones will get plenty of gametime in the second half of the season.
But I will miss the Otamendi BPs (16 BPs in 22 games so far!)

With 20 goals last season in the league I'd expect a slight regression due to the difference in the leagues. But nevertheless could be a goal every other game striker (which he has been on average since joining Besiktas.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016%E2%80%9317_Be%C5%9Fikta%C5%9F_J.K._season#Goal_scorers

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenk_Tosun

I think 8m if he can get around eight to nine goals and provide a few assists over GWK 23 to 38 is not bad. 7.5 and I'd definitely consider him. That could be excellent value.

FPL can certainly do with some challengers in that price bracket - which currently is just Firmino and Vardy.

In my (Galatasaray fan, spends more time on FPL rather than rubbish Turkish football now, and have only a fair idea of Beşiktaş; a devoted Beşiktaş fan could comment better) opinion, Tosun would hardly be of value if priced above 6.5.

His virtues include a fine finishing capability in one-touch scenarios, a surprising ability with his headers (although he is not particularly tall), that he can use both right/left feet well (mainly right though) and his shots outside the box are also powerful.

His disadvantages include inability to play with your back to the goal (not a pivotal centreforward) and his lack of Accelaration (he is not especially slow though). Also, where there are two strong and sppedy central defenders, he is weak to struggle with them. He is improving though and has been working with a personal trainer for a while.

Add to these the fact that most talented Turkish players have failed abroad (Tugay Kerimoglu being the hero to refute that statement and Arda Torun in his Atletico days) he will need time to make an impact. I would not acquire him, unless at 5.5, prior to seeing him actually get settled and scoring for Everton. He would also need a partner as a forward and does significantly less well as a lone strker.

Feyzi mate, Cenk Tosun is 1.84m, tall enough I guess.

I’m not following Turkish league religiously but I have watched him many times. I think and expect him to fit in well to Premiership. Could take a while though.

Thanks for the correction mate. As he is not a Gala player, my observation was merely based on how I saw it on TV, and not on stats, but if he is 1.84, obviously he is tall enough. The bottom line is, as you say, it will take a while.

Judging by how they priced Everton’s other two strikers at the start of the season, Sandro and Rooney at 7.5, I think 7/7.5 is a fair price. Sandro scored 16 goals in 31 games in Spain so you’d think it’d be lower than him but you never know.

Ok, I'm stuck in Auckland airport, 3.5 hour delay... 3:30 in the morning flight time, and its eating into my hawaiin 'lay' over on the way home to UK. Anyone want to rate my team?

    Courtois
    Alonso/Otamendi/Shaw/Mustafi
    Sterling/Eriksen/Arnoutovic/Son/Salah
    Kane

    Joel P//Crouch/Gomez/DCL

    1.2 itb I think 0 transfer

Waiting game to see what to do next....

Nice team. Not sure about Shaw. (I think there's a joke in there somewhere) - he'll probably be sold.

Damn i just put Shaw in! Thought he'd play over young!?

Lingard is one of those players i wanted to put in, but didn't! What do you think about carrol for an upgrade to dcl?

I'm looking to do a Wildcard to sort out my team.
Is it best to do asap to avoid price rises over the next ten days or leave it until nearer the deadline to take advantage of any further news or FAC injuries etc?

    Thanks

If you're set on doing it, do ASAP - you can tinker if injuries etc happen and even ship people in who might rise 0.2, then chuck them out again and gain profit. Not sure how likely that is though

    2. MTPockets
      8 years, 6 months ago

Try to catch double price rises if there are any (to bank the 0.1s).
Don't sell anyone you may want back if there's any risk they'll rise/you lose value on them.

Do it now, leaves you with another 9 days of tinkering.

      If I was wildcarding I would've done a few transfers straightaway and check http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/ & https://www.fantasyfootballfix.com/price/ daily

Who have you currently got mate? I've seen quite a few jump on the wildcard this week. If we can help you avoid it to save for later in the season, that could be the best option...

        Current team:

        DeG, Elliot
        Kenny, Christensen, Otamendi, Mariappa, Naughton
        Arnaytovic, Son, Sterling, Salah, L-C,
        C-L, Kane, Firmino

        Was looking to WC to:

        DeG, Elliot
        Alonso, Otamendi, Jones,Mbemba, Tarkowski
        Mahrez, Lingard, Sterling, Salah, KDB
        Kane, Quaner, Nisse

But my dithering and Alonso rise means I'm now -1 short !

If I'm honest I don't think you need to WC yet. Your team has a decent balance.
I'm not a fan of the one striker template.

Son to Lingard could allow you to upgrade Christensen to Alonso?

Once CL games resume and other cup matches, injuries can hit you for six.

That would give you one over on your rivals who use the WC prematurely.

Thanks - I should add I have £3.8m in the bank having stupidly shipped out Pogba and Hazzard for the current DGW

Then panic over. Do not hit your wildcard button 🙂 I'd even be tempted to upgrade Naughton to Jones

Sure I could do some transfers to bring in Alonso, Jones, Lingard for a -8 hit this week

Amongst all the Morata hate, he'll indeed troll all the sellers. Another night he will take all those chances. Don't forget their plum fixtures.

He could easily have scored at least 2. Hazard just seem so much better at only 0.2 more. (I have Morata, no Hazard)

Hazard is the ultimate troll. Easy on the eye but doesn't always translate into fpl points.

He is easily top 10 in the world. Just because he doesn’t always get fantasy points doesn’t mean he isn’t an amazing player

I think the consensus is likely that it was a mistake to own him in the first place. So he may well hit big and 'troll' them but replacing him with a better player is the right thing to do in the long term

i love when people give this silly argument. at some point a player on a barren run will break that barren run and therefore "he punishes his sellers". even though hes had 6 gameweeks of nothing how is that punishment? ditto hazard. did jay rodriguez "punish his sellers" against the gunners? il tell you what really counts as punishing his sellers: 2 hatricks in a row.

He's sixth for forwards in fpl and is a lone striker for a top club with easy run of fixtures.

Did you forget Stoke? 5 goals no involvement. I'm an owner. Look at this "easy run of fixtures" already passed

          WHU 2 points
          SOU 1 point
          STK 2 points
Even BHA at home 6 points is nothing to brag about

I captained him for Stoke lol.

I've since got for Ageuro, just making a case I'm sure he'll find form.

There are 2 GK's, 3 defenders, 12 mids and 5 forwads outscoring him. and only 4 of all these cost more than him...
