We carry out our club-by-club scan of the treatment rooms, on the day that West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet was ruled out for up to three months with an ankle injury sustained against Everton.

Elsewhere, Liverpool face an anxious wait for the full prognosis on Mamadou Sakho’s knee problem, whilst City are boosted by Sergio Aguero’s progress, as Wilfried Bony is left nursing his hamstring.

Arsenal

Santi Cazorla was replaced by Manuel Flamini at half time of the North London derby, in what initially looked like a tactical decision. Arsene Wenger revealed in his post-match press conference, however, that the Spanish playmaker was suffering from dizziness that affected his mobility:

“We suffered in the first half because Cazorla was at 30 per cent of his potential, he was dizzy. I was sitting there thinking do I take him off or not? You never know, maybe it will get better. At half-time I took him off, and in the second half we had a bit better balance. He is not sick, he was just dizzy and could not move, you could see that on the pitch. I did not really know what he had, so at half-time I took him off, I hope it is nothing bad, but it does not look like it, because he says he is alright now.”

Bournemouth

Eddie Howe confirmed that Marc Pugh – who was withdraw after 45 minutes last Gameweek – was unavailable for selection after failing to shake off a knock.

Chelsea

The Blues defender Kurt Zouma has withdrawn from duties for the France Under 21 side due to an unspecified injury earlier today.

Crystal Palace

Eagles fitness coach John Salako has issued an update on Dwight Gayle, who missed the weekend win over Liverpool due to a hamstring injury:

“Dwight works very hard and, unfortunately, I think he’s got a Grade Two tear – he’s had the scan. He could face three-to-four weeks on the sidelines now. He is young so we’ll see, it could be two weeks, it could be (up to) four.”

Everton

Tyias Browning picked up a minor knee injury in training during the week, ruling him out for England U21’s match-up against Bosnia on Thursday. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“We had a warm-up game on Wednesday and he picked up an injury in his knee. It is nothing serious but we’ll have to speak with England and manage that situation. I don’t think he’ll be available for the next game, but he could be available for the game against Switzerland in Brighton.”

Fellow full-back Brendan Galloway is also being assessed ahead of England U21’s upcoming pair of matches. Earlier today, manager Gareth Southgate revealed:

“Brendan is being assessed now, he is with us. It’s a muscular injury but we don’t want to take any chances. Maybe he is okay for Thursday; maybe he is okay for Monday. We don’t know.”

Liverpool

The Merseysiders were rocked earlier this evening after scans confirmed that Mamadou Sakho is set for a period on the sidelines after limping off early during the weekend loss to Palace. Liverpool expect to discover the likely period of absence tomorrow, with the Frenchman set to see a specialist.

Jordon Ibe has withdrawn from England U21 duties against Bosnia and Switzerland with a knee injury, The youngster suffered no more than bruising, though, and is expected to be available for the Gameweek 13 trip to City.

James Milner sat out Sunday’s defeat having suffered a hamstring injury in their Europa League clash against Rubin Kazan. After the Anfield loss, Jurgen Klopp played down the severity of the injury:

“In Kazan, he had not the best moment with his muscle. But he’s an experienced player, and it was nothing serious and in this moment he can train.”

Manchester City

Wilfried Bony pulled up with a hamstring problem at Villa Park and had to be substituted at the 24-minute mark. Although Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t expect the Ivorian to play for his country during the international break, he did suggest that Bony could travel with the squad to get his injury assessed:

“It is difficult to know at this moment how serious his hamstring injury is. We will see tomorrow. I don’t know – maybe he will have to go and join up with Ivory Coast. His country must review the injury. But I don’t think he will be able to play and he will return to Manchester.”

In more positive developments for the Sky Blues, Pellegrini reported that a quartet of injured players are progressing well in their rehabilitation, with Sergio Aguero targeting a return next Gamweek against Liverpool:

“I hope that this week he [Aguero], (David) Silva, (Samir) Nasri and (Pablo) Zabaleta, will work with the physiotherapist and next Monday they will start working with the squad. We will see in the way he improves this week, but I think there is a chance he can be (back for Liverpool).”

Earlier today, Aguero took to twitter to confirm:

“Giving it my all on recovery work. There’s still more to go but getting better by the day!”

Manchester United

Marouane Fellaini missed Manchester United’s 2-0 home win over West Bromwich Albion and will not travel with Belgium ahead of their back-to-back friendlies, given that he sustained an injury in training.

Norwich City

Nathan Redmond was sidelined for the Canaries’ win over Swansea and has withdrawn from international duty with the England U21s, having injured his thigh in midweek.

Newcastle United

In the wake of the Magpies’ 1-0 road victory against Bournemouth, stand-in shot-stopper Rob Elliot revealed that he played against the advice of the club’s doctors. The former Charlton keeper is nursing a thigh injury but is confident that a fortnight of rest will hold him in good stead when Leicester City pay a visit next Gameweek.

“If you ask the manager, I was always playing. If you ask the doctor, then I probably wasn’t playing last week either. I was always going to play, and I didn’t know how good or bad it was going to be. It wasn’t too bad today, it was quite painful and I just had to get underneath the ball and lift it, you just don’t want to let the team down. I said to the manager, if you want me to play I will play, but just so long as I’m not going to hinder the team. I’m going to go and see the specialist and hopefully get some good news off him. Get some treatment, get some strength, get some rest. Hopefully I’ll be ready for Leicester and hopefully (we can) start showing the team that we can be, rather than the team we could be.”

Sunderland

John O’Shea is carrying a hamstring injury and will be assessed by Sunderland’s medical team to determine his availability for Ireland’s Euro 2012 qualifying play-off:

“Rob Elliot, John O’Shea, Paul McShane, Alan Judge, and Shane Long will all be assessed by their respective clubs before reporting for international duty.”

West Ham United

The Hammers have been dealt a major blow after Dimitri Payet was ruled out for around three months with an ankle injury sustained against Everton on Saturday. His replacement against the Toffees, Enner Valencia, was forced off with a similar complaint and will be assessed by a specialist early next week, the club’s official website has revealed.

Last year West Ham were incredible but around Christmas had their star player, Sslho, injured and then as many predicted plummeted.
    Rinse and repeat?

      • 12 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

Yup, also helps they've been outperforming their underlying #s in the first half of each season too. But yes the narrative is strong with this one.

Looks pretty likely to me. Unfortunate, as they've been excellent at times this season, but Payet is a massive loss.

I know plans never work, but how's this for a transfer plan?

This GW: Payet ----> Deulafeu, save other FT.
Next GW: Pelle ---> Aguero and find 0.5 from my other FT (Could be Dawson/Kolarov----> Ward/Souare/Bertrand or a Mane downgrade)

Would leave my front 8 looking like:

    Sanchez, KDB, Mane, Deulafeu, Mahrez
    Aguero, Vardy, Ighalo

    1. Geordienufc1
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

Not bad at all - Aguero in without a hit is a win in itself. I think Delofueu could be a great differential too.

For the next few weeks that looks like an excellent front 8. The front line begins to go a bit awry when Leceister and Watford's fixtures turn though.

      1. Puyol Pants Up
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 1 month ago

Indeed. But I do believe Leicester's attackers are "fixture proof"

I could do Pelle ----> Aguero this week if I wanted to. It's pretty much down to who scores more this week

        Pelle(STK) + Deulafeu(AVL) or Aguero(LIV) + Ighalo (MUN)

I see the former scoring more.

        1. Geordienufc1

Definitely the former. I'd be surprised if Aguero played more than 20 minutes, if that.

On a scale of 1 to essential, how important is Ozil over the next 4 weeks?

He appears to be killing it form-wise, and his next 4 fixtures are excellent.

The problem is that he makes the whole Aguero situation far more complex.

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Kolarov - Bellerin - Moreno - Ward - Richards
    KDB - Sanchez - Payet - Mane - Mahrez
    Lukaku - Vardy - Pelle

    1.1 itb.

The easy route to Aguero would be Payet to Surman (or similarly priced), Pelle to Aguero.

But Ozil may be too good to ignore, and Mane too inconsistent to keep. Which would require a raft of other changes, and multiple hits.

The question: Over the next 4 weeks, how much more valuable do we think Ozil is than Mane?

I'd get Ozil in for Payet now

I'm inclined to agree. I want Ozil, and I don't think Aguero will be a necessity for a few weeks yet.

My current midfield consists of Payet | Özil | Mahrez | Tadic | De Bruyne

With the news of Payet out for the long run, who are some potential Dimitri differentials?

Lingard - Grabbed the crucial goal against West Brom, meaning LVG will be less likely to drop him for the next couple of games. Brings the welcome return of a cheap 5th to free up cash for an Aguero return.

Deulofeu/Barkley - Everton are about to undertake a good run of fixtures, which will hopefully mean a few goals here and there. Deulofeu has got form on his side, whilst Barkley is due to come good sooner rather than later. Big upside is that the man they are feeding is on fire.

Cabaye - Palace are also about to hit some kind fixtures. Seems to have struggled against the so called 'bigger teams', which is a good sign for the coming weeks. On set pieces and more importantly, he's on penalties.

Coutinho - After the game against City, Klopp's lot have a kind run until the new year. He's the go to guy at Liverpool at the moment, with 3 goals in his last 2. Will be even more of a threat upon the return of Sturridge.

Eriksen - Unbeaten since the opening day and playing for a team under a new lease on life this season. Although his corners aren't producing many returns, we all know what he's like when a free-kick is given. Everything runs through him at Spurs.

Would love your thoughts on these options, plus some other differentials you can see coming good.

      10 years, 1 month ago

I quite like the look of the Deulofeu route myself. Great fixtures, without exception, and strong form both personally and Everton as an attacking unit. Cabaye also a decent option.

Coutinho is a shot in the dark, he's such an up and down player, not always in line with the fixtures. Eriksen has similar issues - plus they're both more expensive.

That being said, they've all got the potential to do well or flop, so take my entirely subjective suggestions with a grain of salt 😛

1FT with 0.8M itb, any suggestions? I guess the first would be to get rid of Payet? but for who? Also what to do about Bony?

All must be very tight around the 600 to 630 total point mark.

10 extra points at the moment gets you an extra 30,000 higher rank.

I willing to get Koscielny over Bellerin. Koscielny has more goals in him and probably more Baps potential. Moreover Ozil's delivery from set-pieces has been sumptuous all season.

Bellerin is super attacking, pleasing on the eye and all that but would want some goal threat at that price.

    Anyone tend to disagree?

I know Bellerin is currently injured, but Kosc seems to be more injury prone over the longer term

I've actually got Monreal, so this is an unbiased opinion 😀

I'd go Bellerin. You can never rely on CBs for attacking points imo, Kosc does have attacking threat, but you can never be sure when he will score. Look at Kompany, he scored two in the first two games and may not even score for the rest of the season.

Another factor is Kosc is very very injury prone, he's probably had 4 or 5 niggly type injuries this season already. So I'd steer clear 🙂

Lingard. Will he get an extended run? Does it matter? Payet>Lingard works perfect for me to afford Bony>Aguero + enough left over to upgrade 4.5 def to Rose/Dann

Just want to highlight that Cabaye in on 4 yellow now. He is the best cheap mid option to replace Payet IMO, way ahead of Barkley but he is just 1 yellow away from suspension.

Of course I had seen player with 4 yellows and went on without getting the next one till new year. Up to you to decide but he is a NO to me atm.
