A trio of new protagonists toppled off the Suspension Tightrope over the weekend’s ten fixtures. Palace wide man Wilfried Zaha, West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob and Villa defender Ciaran Clark were the guilty parties, with all three set to miss Gameweek 15 as their clubs do not have midweek Capital One Cup fixtures to bail them out.

Zaha was booked for simulation just three minutes before scoring his first goal since the opening day of the season – he now misses the upcoming trip to Everton a week tomorrow. Yacob earned an 81st-minute yellow during the Baggies’ draw at West Ham, whilst Clark finally succumbed to the high wire with a fifth booking, more than two months after collecting a fourth yellow card in the Capital One Cup third round. The Villa centre-half was the second player in the top-flight to reach four cautions but had been hampered by fitness and selection issues ever since. He’s been named in all three of Remi Garde’s starting XIs, though, and will now miss the upcoming visit to Southampton.

Ryan Shawcross also received a one-match ban. The Stoke skipper collected two yellows in a five-minute spell either side of half-time for fouls on Steven Fletcher and Duncan Watmore as Mark Hughes’ men fell to a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland. He’ll miss the Capital One Cup Quarter Final against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek but will be available for next week’s tough home encounter with Man City.

Post-match, Hughes slammed the decision to send his captain packing as Stoke lost for just the second time since Gameweek 5:

“I think the referee didn’t show any common sense really and should have given Ryan the benefit of the doubt. Ryan feels he got a nick on the ball before the lads gone down so I’m disappointed from that point of view. The referee, on the day, didn’t perform as I’ve seen him perform before; unfortunately he got the awarding of the free kick that led to their first goal wrong as well. Those are the key moments in the game that change it and unfortunately they were negative for us.

Elsewhere in the same match, Erik Pieters joined Alex Tettey at the top of the Tightrope charts with his sixth booking – no Premier League player has more this season.

There were five new additions to this week’s Tightrope. Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling joined team-mate Matt Ritchie to double the number of Cherries on the wire. Stoke’s Charlie Adam picking up a fourth yellow for a crunching challenge on Lee Cattermole at the Stadium of Light, whilst Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue also saw yellow in yesterday’s fixtures.

Spurs defensive duo Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker joined them today, meaning that 18 players now sit just one caution shy of a single-match suspension. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now received 33 bookings in the league this season – that’s more than any other side, with Liverpool (32) and West Brom (30) next in line. In the case of the first two in particular, their penchant for pressing opponents is clearly incurring the referees’ wrath.

Seven players will return from bans in time for Gameweek 15. Graziano Pelle, Lucas, Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Brunt, Robert Huth, Mark Noble and Dele Alli are available once again after falling off last week’s Tightrope, whilst James Collins comes back into contention for West Ham, having sat out a three-match ban.

I benched De Bruyne this week and somehow still ended up with a green arrow of +26k 🙂 really wish I had played him though.

Rest of front 8 was/is Ozil, Alexis, Mahrez, Barkley, Kane, Ighalo, Vardy. City weren't in good form and I also got cocky cause I benched Alexis last week and it worked.

I would've benched Ighalo probably, but you would've lost points then as well.can't have them all

Honestly I never thought of benching Ighalo against Villa. It was mostly between Alexis and KdB.

Well, I don't think anyone would have benched Alexis after his explosion midweek so I wouldn't stress about it. I benched Alexis against Tottenham and sold him thereafter.

These midweek explosions aren't turning out too well. I kept Depay in my team for like 5 too many weeks because of his hat trick in the UCL. (or was it a brace, can't remember).

This season is weird. When u make a wrong decision it really hit you badly..not only points but usually the player will be injuried/benched too.

Got in bony instead of lukaku...blank and injuried
Kept sanchez instead of kdb...outscored and injuried
Sold vardy for aguero...outscored and injuried
    Got pedro instead of payet...benched

morning dzzz, finally a green arrow (small one) after 6 red arrows 🙁 (my longest bad run in fpl history)

so have a couple of options for this gw

    begovic (BOU)
moreno (new) cedric (AVL) janmaat (LIV) -- simpson (swa) souare (cpl)
mane (STK) ozil (SUN) yaya (stk) sanchez (SUN) -- mahrez (swa)
    kane lukaku vardy

    - not happy with my def..need to ship janmaat/cedric/souare...for now want to remove souare
    - sanchez is out but can start mahrez. yaya has been a bad punt

A: sanchez >> kdb...means dbl up city def or i can bench yaya in favour or mahrez
B: sanchez >> hazard..punt and have yaya for city "cover" 😀 lol
    C: sanchez + yaya >> kdb/hazard + sterling (-4)
    D: sanchez + yaya >> kdb/hazard + coutinho (-4)..means no city cover if i go hazard
    E: sanchez + souare >> kdb/hazard + smalling (-4)

    Currently stuck between C/D/E

Kind of regret not selling Sanchez for Hazard before the drop. But something in my gut is telling me the injury isn't as serious as some may believe. If he's only out for a week or two I think I may just sell Westwood for a better 5th as cover..

The only other players I would consider are Hazard and Silva

I had those thoughts too. If he's only out for 2 weeks I might be sacrificing Aguero to upgrade Drinkwater and just bench Sanchez.

Drinkwater + Aguero > Bolasie/Mane + Kane would be what I'm looking at.

Any longer for Sanchez and he's gone.

First time this season I've been below the average score. Awful week capped by a Sanchez injury

    Team for next week

    Begovic
    VvD Bellerin Rojo/Sagna
    Mane Mahrez Ayew Ozil
    Lukaku Vardy Aguero

    Henessey Gosling Rojo/Sagna Souare

    0 FT's 3.1 ITB

No hits required right? Want Barkley/Coutinho/KdB/Silva but don't really want to remove any of the mids. All with good fixtures

As stupid as it looks selling KDB for -4, it really didn't hurt me that much. The worse part of it is that now Sanchez is injured that in hindsight would like to still have KDB

    Darmian(2), KDB(16), Pelle(0, auto sub 1)
    vs
    Moreno(9), Ozil(10), Kun(2) -4

No Kompany is killing their CS potential. But at the end of the day, it's the fun of watching Kolarov's attacking input which is why most of us have him to begin with.
