Scout Picks Community Champion Vote – Gameweek 13

As part of our revamped Scout Picks, Mark, myself, Paul and a community champion picked by you each week are up against each other. All four teams are then used to decide our final weekly Scout Picks.

We are now looking for Gameweek 13’s Scout Picks Community Champion to represent you and get one over on The Scouts as well as be in with a chance of winning a special prize. The champion who manages the best Gameweek score (or best score from the first ten matches in a double Gameweek) will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

To put yourself forward simply add in your Gameweek 13 Scout Picks here. For everyone else please upvote the poster you would like to represent you based on their picks. Please try to keep all discussion about the vote to this article and avoid spam canvassing, as it could prove counterproductive to your chances.

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of budget. We are sticking to a budget of 83.5m. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team.

I’ll leave this vote for 24 hours and come back at 10am tomorrow (Tuesday) to find out who is the community’s choice.

Once selected I’ll need you to email me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with your final scout picks and 200 word explanation (I’m happy to take bullet points) by Thursday 5pm at the latest. There is time to alter based on injuries on Friday daytime – just keep me updated by email. If your champion fails to submit their final team by this time then an assistant from our team of moderators and contributors will step in.

Any attempts to disrupt the voting process may lead to the team involved being removed at our discretion. Also the comment section below is for those who want to present their teams or vote. If you have any suggestions on how the Scout Picks can be improved further next year please email me rather than leave a comment below.

Look forward to seeing your teams. Us Scouts are in confident mood after some notable successes over the weekend (Jonathan Walters...yes really!... picked by me) and Harry Kane (picked by Mark).

I expect both Baines and Sakho to play, but if they are still doubtful before weekend, Terry and Austin can come in.

Rooney (HUL) – Austin (LEI) – Costa (sun)

    - Burnley and QPR have been showing encouraging signs lately, which they’ll look to deliver on at home to Villa and Leicester. Both their opponents have blanked in 6 of the last 7.

    - Only Chelsea and Southampton have conceded fewer goals than Swansea, who will be looking to pick up a sixth clean sheet of the season at home to Palace.

    - The fixture also bodes well for attacking returns – Palace are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored or assisted 7 of the Swans 10 goals at the Liberty so far.

    - West Brom have won only one of their last six matches. Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways against the Baggies, then, where Chambers and Sanchez have a good chance of being amongst the points.

    - Hull have also won just once in six, and face a trip to an ever improving Manchester United. Between them, Angel Di Maria and Wayne Rooney have been involved in 9 of their 11 goals at Old Trafford this season.

    - QPR have scored twice in each of their last four at Loftus Road. If they do the same again against Leicester, expect in-form, main man Charlie Austin to get at least one of them.

    - That just leaves us with Costa and Hazard, the most direct attacking threats in a Chelsea side that looks like steamrolling its way to the title. Thanks for reading!

    Fabianski
    Trippier - Caulker - McNair
Sigurdsson - Hazard - Sanchez - Di Maria
    Ings - Austin - Bony

Swansea are strong at home and I'm backing them to keep a clean sheet at home to Palace. I also expect Burnley to shut out toothless Villa with added assist potential for Kieren Trippier. Leicester can't score for toffee so Caulker gets the nod for his ability to notch on a set-piece, McNair is the budget pick for Man United at home to poor travellers Hull.
Siggy gives you consistant returns at home and I'm backing him to load the bullets for Wilfred Bony upfront, Hazard will run riot against Sunderland as he did last season, while Sanchez can take advantage of a West Brom defence lucky to get away with 2-0 at Chelsea this week, Di Maria is due a big haul and Hull look there for the taking. QPR are strong at home and Austin should bag against Leicester, while Danny Ings looks primed to take advantage of a decimated Villa rearguard.

    I make that £75.9m

I have had a long look at Montero, but turned down the option for my team. I don't really believe that he is the genuine article - his overall record is poor. I can't then bung him in the Scout Picks.

Costa 11.0 (sun) Bony 8.2 (CPL) Austin 5.8 (LEI)

    82.9 M

    Reasoning behind Team Selection:-

    DEF
    1) Fabianski - Swansea have been tight in defence and are at home.
    2) Trippier - Most attacking full back in the league. Burnley have tightened up and are hosting goal shy Villa
    3) Caulker - Has increasing touches in the box last few weeks and always a threat from set-pieces and hosts Leicester who are struggling to score.
    4) Cresswell - Wham have kept 2 CS in therr last 3 home games and the LB gives an attacking outlay with promise of points both ends of the pitch.

    MID & FWD
    1) The midfield and forward line pretty much picks itself based on form and fixtures.

Thank you for your time. Please do vote if you like my team! 🙂

    Adrian,
    Trippier, Baines, Caulker
    Sanchez, Hazard, Sigurdsson, Downing
    Rooney, Costa, Austin

    Price: 82.4m

Whilst I can't see many clean sheets this week, I'm going with an attacking defence, with Trippier, Baines and Caulker all offering goal threat whilst also being those in the best contention for a clean sheet as the like of Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool continue to struggle.

In midfield, Sanchez and Hazard should offer heaps of potential, whilst Sigurdsson faces Crystal Palace at home, and has offered returns in most home games so far. I would expect this to continue. Finally, assuming he's fit - Downing should offer heavy points potential against Newcastle at home.

Finally, Rooney has looked in-form over the past few weeks with club and country, and entertains an out of form Hull City side. Costa needs no explanation whilst Austin has looked increasingly promising, particularly at Loftus Road.

I'm going for goals with this team, and feel I have plenty of goal threat around the park.

OK, I'll give it another bash having previously been unsuccessful.

    DDG (5.4)
    Azpi (6.0), Coleman (6.9), Dummett (4.2)
    Sanchez (10.9), ADM (10.0), Hazard (10.1), Cesc (9.7)
    Bony (8.2), Ings (5.7), Austin (5.8)

Yep, I'm eschewing the big priced front players in favour of three chaps in a rich vein of form up front with home fixtures against teams that leak goals away from home.

Costa may be delivering a goal a game but unless it's 1-0 or he gets a brace or hatty he doesn't get baps. By contrast Hazard & Cesc are lapping them up so rather than decide between them I've doubled up 🙂

May as well post my team........

    Heaton (4.5)
    Bartley (3.9), Yun (3.9), Smalling (5.3)
    ADM (10.0), Sanchez (10.9), Hazard (10.1), Siggy (6.7)
    Rooney (10.2), Costa (11.0), Austin (5.8)

    Total: 82.3

Defence might be cheap but Leicester and Villa haven't scored in 6 of their last 7 (Yun) (Heaton), Bartley has a good fixture and is the cheapest route to SWA defence and Smalling is the only nailed on player in United defence besides from DDG.

Midfield I think speaks for itself, ADM and Siggy have the fixtures, Sanchez and Hazard have the form (plus Haz scored twice at Sunderland last year).

Up front we have the consistent Costa, Rooney who has a good fixture and is generally quite a streaky player (the streak has already begun) and Austin who is playing an awful Leicester defence.

And there you have it.......my scout picks!

Time to have another bash at this.

    Green (LEI)

Tripper (AVL) ------- Coleman (tot) ------- Cresswell (NEW)

ADM (HUL) ------- Siggy (CPL) ------- Sanchez (wba) -------- Eriksen (EVE)

Costa (sun) ------- Austin (LEI) ------ Bony (CPL)

Green - Leicester can't get a goal for Love nor Money at the moment, against an improved QPR defense who looked strong against Newcastle
Trippier - Marauding full back who has assist potential for the in-form Ings, against a Villa team also struggling to score
Coleman - Included due to the doubts over Baines, Coleman is capable of producing goals against a lightweight spurs defense
Cresswell - Although Newcastle are in good form, they're not exactly free-scoring and they rarely do well in London. Cresswell can get assists for the big man up front (Carroll against his old team, if he starts)
ADM - Consistently getting assists for his team, now even more likely with Rooney's purple patch, should be creative against an ordinary Hull team
Siggy - Involved in all Swansea's goals, his creation of space for Bony against City was as good as an assist for me. Swansea are good at home.
    Sanchez - Is Sanchez
Eriksen - I know he blows hot and cold, but had an excellent game vs Hull. Looking a little more threatening and could cause Everton problems
Costa - It's Costa against Sunderland. Nuff said
Austin - Drew a blank against Toon and will be looking to put that right. Leicester look poor and he's the main man at QPR right now.
Bony - Palace don't look too strong at the back, despite a good win against Liverpool, they struggle away from Selhurst. Bony is in great form and he's my pick to carry on that form with another goal or two.

    Happy voting 😀

I Thought that I'd throw my hat in the ring this week with this little lot:

    Heaton (AVL)
Terry (sun), Caulker (LEI), Naylor (CRY)
Hazard (sun), Sanchez (wba), Downing (NEW), Siggy (CRY)
Costa (sun), Rooney (HULL), Austin (LEI)

Heaton and Caulker look good against impotent attacks. Chelsea aren't keeping cleanies, but still fany Terry to bag some points this week. And swansea are awkward buggers to score against and I think they'll do what pool failed at.

The rest pick themselves, don't they? Hazards remembered how to put the ball in the net, Rooney looks like all united have, Costa's a solid performer, Siggy ebbs and flows but still great value. And Charlie to round it off against a shaky Leicester.

First time for me on this- I hope you like it!

    Krul (4.5)
    Baines (7.3) Azpi (6.0) Caulker (4.7) Trippier (4.8)
    Hazard (10.1) ADM (10.0) Siggy (6.7)
    Costa (11.0) Rooney (10.2) Bony (8.2)

    = 83.5

Krul and Newcastle are in great form, so I have gone for in in the sticks. In defence I have combined defensive stability (Chelsea), fixtures and attacking potential - and Caulker is due! I have taken a risk that Baines will be fit and I think that he will outscore any midfielder around the same price, hence I have gone for a controversial 433.

For me, the midfield trio picked itself - each of these on form, with a variety of set pieces to keep the scoring ticking over and with a plum set of fixtures at the weekend.

Up front, Costa is a no-brainer, Bony is bang on form and should make Palace pay, whilst Rooney is on one of his runs....watch out Hull!

    🙂

Adrian and Valencia (back from injury) will stop Newcastles run at Upton Park.
N Taylor and Bony face a weak C Palace and should have no trouble getting a result.
Trippier v Villa who are unable to score, and not very good defending recently either.
Caulker v Leicester is a great CS option and also a threat on set pieces.
AdM, Rooney, Hazard and Sanchez are quality v semi-good opposition.
Tadic is the punt of the week against Man City who concede plenty goals away from home

    I'll explain my picks briefly.

DDG: Good CS potential with some save points always thrown in.

Naylor and Trippier: Easy fixtures and assist potential.

    Sanchez,Cesc,ADM,Costa: They pick themselves.

Bony and Siggy: I am backing Swansea to put 3 at least past Palace. Bony on pens and Siggy performs at home and will probably assist Bony's goals.

Austin: Easy fixture against the helpless Leceister. In form and on pens.

I'll also explain why I stayed away from some of the popular picks:

    - Chelsea defense: Its an easy game and Sunderland tends to lose big to Chelsea but always score. I see a 4-1 maybe.

    - Hazard: He is playing away. I know he exploded in this same fixture last year but that is the exception rather than the rule.

    - Rooney: Falcao might be coming back next week which decreases Rooney's appeal. I also don't want to over invest in Utd since I already picked ADM. I'd rather double up on Chelsea.

I can afford to upgrade Yun to Caulker too for goal threat from corners so lets do that.

The teams look very similar this week. Costa Bony Austin Sanchez Siggy ADM Hazard Trippier in almost every team.

    Green

    Azpilicueta Bartley Baines

    Hazard Oscàr Sanchez Eriksen

    Rooney Austin Bony

    83.2

    * Green: I went for him since he's been able to deliver 16 points in the last four games with tough fixtures against Chelsea, City and in form Newcastle.

    * Bartley: Nailed on at least for this GW and with N. Taylor who might get a fifth yellow and Rangel a bit too pricey at 5.0, Bartley seems the best option to try to get a cleanie out of a Crystal Palace that apparently can still pull out some surprises.

    * Baines: I think he'll be available against Spurs and even if he probably won't get a CS he's still worth the risk. His points come from attacking returns and if he's fit there's not a better DF at the moment.

    * Azpilicueta: He's the cheapest Chelsea DF and sometimes he gets BPS too. Plus, Sunderland hasn't been able to score against Leicester and i can see Chelsea embarking on a clean sheets streak right now.

    * Hazard and Oscàr: Granted, with no Costa Hazard and Fabregas would be the better couple but Oscàr proved that he can be a very good differential priced at 8.5. The brazilian delivered 32 points in the last 5(one point more than Cesc) and Hazard showed us that he can be an explosive differential if he's able to find more space.

    * Sanchez: No glory for him against United but that doesn't change anything, even with the return of Giroud the chilean remains Arsenal's main source of points and with a match against WBA next we might be in for some juicy stuff.

    * Eriksen: Three goals, one assist and 36 points in the last six games, with two of those goals scored against Southampton and City. If he gets 90 minutes, Eriksen can score even against the better teams, which is why i have no problem putting him against Baines and Everton; it's also worth noting that a possible absence by Chadli might help the danish shine even more.

    * Rooney: Wayne over Di Maria because of his much lower ownership and also because he might still play as an actual forward rather than an advanced midfielder even if Falcao came back to training. I'm not so sure that LVG will rush Falcao in right away after coming back from two injuries but i can definitely see Rooney delivering some interesting points and maybe even a double digit. He could be a very nice captain choice.

    * Austin: At the moment, he's the best cheap striker there is(especially with Sakho out). He blanked against the in form Newcastle's defense but it's difficult to imagine another blank with a match against Leicester on saturday. While it is true that Leicester hasn't conceded THAT much lately, it's also true that QPR has been able to score against both Chelsea and City, delivering three goals throughout those two games.

    * Bony: The ivorian over Sigurdsson because the former has a very low ownership of 4.4% and he's been able to deliver four goals and 30 points in the last five games while the latter has delivered only 19 points in the last five with one goal and one assist. Bony scored the only goal against City and he looks in better form than Gilfy at the moment with some promising fixtures coming up too.

And we have a winner - Beavis.

If you could email me jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk by 5pm on Thursday with your final team (based on any forthcoming team and injury news) and around 200 words explanation that'd be great.

There is time on Friday to change any if any injury news comes in.

Here's Beavis's team as a reminder. Looks good. All out ManU could be his winning hand.

    Heaton (4.5)
    Bartley (3.9), Yun (3.9), Smalling (5.3)
    ADM (10.0), Sanchez (10.9), Hazard (10.1), Siggy (6.7)
    Rooney (10.2), Costa (11.0), Austin (5.8)

    Total: 82.3
