With European football back on the agenda, weโ€™re joining forces with The Sun once again to announce a brand new game for Fantasy managers. The Sunโ€™s Dream Team Europe (DTE) covers the knockout stages of both the Champions League and Europa League and gets underway this Tuesday, running all the way up until the Berlin Champions League final on Saturday June 6.

Thereโ€™s a total of ยฃ50,000 in the prizes to give over the course of the DTE game โ€“ by far the biggest pot on offer in a European Fantasy Football game. The winner takes home a cool ยฃ25,000, with the runner-up consoling themselves with a cheque for ยฃ7,500. Indeed, finish in the top ten and youโ€™ll be sure to be in the money. With ยฃ2,000 pay-outs also on offer for the winner of each of the four phases over the tournament, thereโ€™s plenty of opportunities to benefit from The Sunโ€™s generosity.

Ways To Play

To stand the best chance of winning, Fantasy managers need to enter their teams prior to 7.45pm on Tuesday, when Paris St Germain host Chelsea and Shakhtar entertain Bayern Munich, though you can still enter into the DTE game after those kick offs.

You can pick a team for free and compete for the full ยฃ50,000 in prizes, though you need to enter payment details to sign up to Sun+ on a free one-month trial in order to access the game. You can, however, cancel the Sun+ at any point.

If you opt to back your European know-how, you can grab a Premium Package โ€“ this gives you five teams for ยฃ9.99 and comes with three months of Sun+ and a free ยฃ20 Amazon voucher. To get involved, click here.

The Ruleset

The basic ruleset remains very straightforward. Each team must consist of XI players, with Fantasy managers handed a budget of ยฃ50m to assemble their selection in either a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

Players score points from the Champions League and Europa League matches and bearing in mind weโ€™re now down to the knockout stages, itโ€™s perhaps wise to avoid those budget picks from outsiders who are likely to be eliminated by the big boys, forcing you into early tinkering.

Like the main Dream Team game, goals and clean sheets are the major source of points. Assists count for nothing although Dream Team has its own โ€œBonus Pointโ€ scoring system in the shape of the โ€œStar Manโ€ award, which is basically man of the match and earns 5 extra points, while all players who earn 7 or more in The Sun player ratings in a match pick up another 3 points. For a full breakdown of the rules, click here.

Transfers

The DTE offers Fantasy managers a total of 20 transfers over the course of the game, though there are limitations as to how many we can use during each stage. We can make eight of their trades overs Phases 1 and 2, with a further 12 available for Phases 3 and 4, allowing us to restructure as the competitions unfold. Thereโ€™s no roll over of transfers from Phases 1 and 2, though, so you need to use them or lose them.

The breakdown of the Phases are as follows:

Phase 1: February 17 -26, which takes in the first leg of the eight Champions League Last 16 matches and both legs of the 16 Europa League last 32 matches.

Phase 2: March 10 -19, which takes in the second leg of the eight Champions League Last 16 matches and both legs of the eight Europa League last 16 matches.

Phase 3: April 14-23, which takes in both legs of the Champions League and Europa League Quarter-Finals.

Phase 4: May 5 โ€“ June 6, which takes in the Semi-Finals and Finals of both the Champions League and Europa League.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Weโ€™ve opened up a League for the Fantasy Football Scout community and The Sun have kindly put up ยฃ200 for the winner. To enter, register your team, click on Leagues and use the league PIN 8319836 to get involved.

Could someone analyse the percentage of big hitters who actually perform over both matches for last season or for 3 seasons ?

I hope that will help many to decide to take hits for the DGW vs keeping their non-DGW players who can do well in the 1 match to compensate for the doubles of others.

With Blank & DGW on horizon, I have Eriksen Haz Kane Austin. Would Haz > Sanchez (Capt) be a good move now if Chelsea don't have DGW. Have 2FT but only using 1 per wk until GW 28.

WBA has really nice fixtures until GW34 and they are really starting to work along with Pulis and his system. They are also a big counter attack threat, especially with these two forwards upfront .. they've destroyed West Ham in FA Cup ๐Ÿ™‚

Have 1FT and 2,6 itb (Terry, Hazard, Kane on bench GW27)
    A) Giroud ->Costa now (then only 10 players next week), save ft next week and do Jones+ADM ->Rose+Eriksen. Then 5 DGW players GW28 with no hit but only 10 players next week
    B) Save now or find 2 week punt defender for Jones, get Eriksen, Rose and Costa GW28 for -4 hit
    C) Save now and only get Costa and Eriksen but not Rose GW28, no hits.
What is best option, if Chelsea have DGW28 or not?

      • 11 Years

      C.

      Play 11 players in GW27.

And bring Eriksen and Costa to join Terry, Haz and Kane in DGW28.

Rose is not worthy for -4, I think he will play only one game, Ben Davies can have minutes.

Wisdom --> Naughton is away game at Burnley, they will concede at least one goal, so better play only 10 players instead of going for 2 points from that 11th guy.

Beware The Sun, just because it means contributing to the maintenance of that absolute disgrace of a paper, which should be treated with nothing other than derision and contempt.

Not that I'm angry or anything...

Not one to ever stick up for The Sun and putting their Dream Team games behind their horrible Sun+ service has been an awful move... But it was quite clearly marked as needing to sign up for a two month trial to Sun+ to play Dream Team and that you would be charged if you didn't cancel it within those two months..

Your compliant is a bit like signing up for a 30 day trial of Netflix then warning people about Netflix when you get charged after the 30 days..

I found this afterward, yes. But it also said it would remind me when my free trial expired. It didn't.

        I wouldn't have got my money if I didn't have a case.

Either way, it's a slimy way of getting subscribers.

I was just playing a fantasy football game. If I wanted to subscribe to Sun+, I would have.

Comparing it to Netflix is COMPLETELY inaccurate. If I got a free trial of Netflix it would be because I wanted that trial, and probably to continue it. I did not want the trial of Sun+, I wanted a FF game, and they knew this. It would have been better if they reminded me near the end of the free trial. But they didn't. Therefore they had no legal rights to the money ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yeah I do definitely agree, it's horrible to put Fantasy Football game behind a subscription intended to read their rubbish news articles and videos. It did make me reconsider it before signing up this year and I will be avoiding this Euro game, it looks absolutely useless.

their game is a joke on the whole. Its subject to ratings as part of the scoring system. Ratings that are decided by The Suns journalists. Some of the ratings over the years has been appalling.

Pretty pathetic for any site to affiliate and promote anything to do with the Sun. Very disappointed to be honest

Yes, Robben is in great form and Shakhtar has no chance with Bayern, then I have Gotze too.

I can have Brahimi, only Jackson is out of my team.

What are the thoughts Shay Given and Guzan...Was there a reason for Given playing in the cup or has Sherwood pulled an old pals act for his former team mate and dropped Guzan ?...

di maria... can't pay that much for him only to bench! plus he can only get better...

also, who knows how Aston villa will respond to Sherwood's appointment, usually there is a little bounce back and Stoke seem to be the likely victims
