United have learnt that the injury to Darren Fletcher could rule him out for the rest of the season, while Louis Saha has also picked up a knock in training and will miss Wednesday’s Champions League tie. Fletcher’s ankle injury was thought to be a minor knock which would only sideline the midfielder for 2 weeks. However, a scan has revealed more serious ligament damage that could rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Fletcher’s prolonged absence won’t concern too many Fantasy Managers but news of the knock suffered by Louis Saha certainly will. He picked up an injury in training on Monday and will miss the game against Lille. He is scheduled for a scan to assess the full extent of the injury. That means yet more unease for Fantasy Managers who were keen to pounce for the United striker, in anticipation of the return of Larsson on March 12. Saha is without doubt a decent buy for the rest of the season, however, it goes without saying that you should sit tight until the scan results are in before considering transferring the Frenchman into your lineup.
Meanwhile both Scholes and Evra are also doubtful for Wednesday’s game. These are major concerns – Evra’s knock is apparently minor, while Scholes will miss the next 3 matches through suspension, regardless of injury, so if you’ve probably shifted him out of your teams by now.
