United might be cruising into the Champions League Quarter-Finals but earlier today they were hit by the news that Louis Saha will be out for 4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Saha will miss this weekend’s FA Cup Quarter Final, and Premiership matches against Bolton and Blackburn.
This comes as a major blow for United. They are already without Solskjaer at least until the end of March, while Larsson will of course, return to Sweden on March 12. With Giuseppe Rossi on loan at Parma, it leaves United with just Rooney and Alan Smith, who has just returned from long-term injury, as recognised strikers. Sir Alex also has the option of employing Giggs, Scholes or even O’Shea in more advanced positions. It seems likely that either Giggs or Ronaldo will be employed off Rooney in attack, until either Saha or Solskjaer return. While Ronaldo is in most Fantasy Manager’s lineups already, this injury makes Giggs a more attractive proposition. Even if he’s not employed up front, he does seem more likely to play if Ronaldo is moved to a more central role.
