Wigan have been boosted by the return of Paul Scharner to full training. Scharner has made a good recovery from his knee operation and trained with the squad on Thursday. He’s now set to be thrown into a reserve game against Liverpool on Tuesday. If he comes through that, he could come into the reckoning for the Fulham game next Saturday.
Scharner’s return will alert many Fantasy Managers as the Wigan man is likely to retain his place in the centre of midfield, even though, in many Fantasy games, he’s classed as a defender. Scharner was unlucky not to have registered more points before his injury, he was getting forward regularly and was a major threat at set pieces. Given Wigan’s revival, Scharner looks a very decent buy indeed, once he’s match fit and established back in the Wigan side. Landzaat and Skoko are currently occupying the central midfield positions for Wigan, they’re likely to come under pressure with Scharner’s return so owners of those players should be aware that a shuffle of Wigan’s midfield is likely by the end of March.
