Spurs will be without Anthony Gardner for up to 6 weeks after the centre-back suffered a hairline fracture of the fibula in Sunday’s cup tie with Chelsea. Gardner will undergo a scan but Jol has already indicated that he fears a long-term absence [source].
With Ledley King still out, this means a prolonged run for Rocha at centre-back although Huddlestone could also be employed there if need be. In fact, Huddlestone could find himself at centre-back for Wednesday’s UEFA Cup tie as Rocha is cup-tied. Back in the Premiership though, Rocha could be worth considering, particularly as Spurs have 3 of the next 4 games at home. They face Watford, Reading, Chelsea (A) and Blackburn in the next month.
