Still no official news from United on the Van der sar calf injury however, a story over at Tribal Football this morning has a quote from the man himself, casting doubt over his fitness for the weekend.
The Dutchman is quoted as saying “I don’t think I will be back in time to face Bolton on Saturday – that would be pushing it. We will see but it certainly doesn’t look that way.”
Suddenly the stock of United defenders falls just a little. Kuszczak will take his place in goal against Bolton, who are likely therefore, to chuck in as many crosses and long-throws as possible. They also look set to have Kevin Davies back in their side to aim them at. While Bolton aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders, they will pose a decent threat to a United clean sheet if Van der sar fails to make it.
