Rio Ferdinand will have a scan tomorrow on the groin injury that forced him off in yesterday’s win over Watford in the FA Cup semi. Rio himself reckons he’ll be ready for Saturday’s game against Boro, although he’s ruled himself out of Tuesday’s game when United host Sheffield United. That could be optimistic, so best wait for the scan results tomorrow.
United have also revealed that Gary Neville is not likely to return next weekend but could make it back for the Champions League semi against AC Milan on April 24, making him available for the last 4 Premiership matches. In the absence of both Ferdinand and Neville against the Blades and Boro, it’s likely we’ll see O’Shea return at right-back with Heinze in the centre alongside Brown and Evra returning on the left.
