Ricardo Gardner has the dubious honour of being the subject of my first injury news of the season having been confirmed as a the victim of a torn hamstring. Gardner suffered the injury in Bolton’s opening game of the Peace Cup in Korea on Thursday. An MRI scan today has revealed the tear and Gardner is now predicted to be absent from Sammy Lee’s first team plans for 6-weeks. He will be looking to return for Bolton’s home game with Reading on August 25. His absence should mean a run of games for new signing Jlloyd Samuel. Bolton had better news on Stelios’ calf injury with the Greek cleared to return to light training.
Bolton won their second Peace Cup game today, 2-0 against tournament favourites, Chivas from Mexico. Harsanyi and Nolan were on the score sheet. Looks like Nolan ,who came on at half-time in this one, is rousing himself nicely for the season. I’ll be bringing you a report of all the weekend’s friendly results, lineups, formations and scorers tomorrow.
