Petr Cech was due to have a scan today on the calf injury sustained in last night’s Champions League tie at Schalke – if the scan reveals that surgery is required, he could face at least a month out of action. Carlo Cudicini replaced the Chelsea number one in last night’s game after Chelsea doctors confirmed that Cech could not play on with the injury. Cudicini now looks set to lineup against Everton at the weekend and could step into the breach throughout November and early December. Despite missing skipper John Terry, Chelsea have kept five consecutive Premiership clean sheets and have three of the next four games at Stamford Bridge.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
