Alexander Hleb has picked up an injury whilst playing for Belarus which will reportedly see him miss the home game with Wigan and put him out of action for up to two weeks.
The midfielder was taken off at half-time, and according to International coach Bernd Stange, he will be out for two weeks. There’s no official news from Arsenal on this right now but Hleb’s injury, if confirmed, will put further stress on Wenger’s midfield resources. Arsenal are already without Fabregas through suspension, Flamini through injury whilst Diaby is also carrying a knock. That could mean starts for Walcott and Gilberto at the weekend. Wenger is also set to revert to a 4-4-2 formation with Van Persie, returning from injury, alongside Adebayor.
Hleb’s injury is also significant given that Arsenal have a double fixture week approaching – they play Villa and Newcastle away in the Fantasy Premier League gameweek 15. Seemingly, Hleb will be a major doubt for these matches.
