Leon Osman coud be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a broken toe against West Ham at the weekend.
The Everton midfielder played on through the pain after receiving a painkilling injection but a post-match x-ray confirmed the news of a break that will force him out of action.
The news comes as a cruel blow for Everton who continue to surf a wave of form. It could mean a return to 4-4-2 in the long term for Everton with Andy Johnson earning a recall. However, with a trip to Old Trafford next, it would seem likely that Thomas Gravesen will benefit from Osman’s absence.
