Robin Van Persie is set for another extended spell on the sidelines as a result of the thigh injury sustained in the Carling Cup semi with Spurs [source].

Van Persie missed the weekend game with Birmingham after coming down with flu, with Wenger suggesting that the Dutchman had not also suffered a recurrence of the thigh injury that had previously seen him out for a prolonged spell in the Spurs game. That now appears to have been wishful thinking.

Wenger declared today that Van Persie will be out for “a few weeks” following the setback. The Arsenal boss also revealed the Djourou will be out for a number of weeks with a groin injury, also sustained against Spurs.

Those injuries are likely to cement the places of both Eduardo and Senderos in the month ahead – making them significantly more tempting in fantasy terms.

The one piece of good news for Arsenal from Wenger’s interview today was the news that Rosicky is fit to return against Fulham at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
