Chelsea’s Petr Cech’s run of injuries has continued in the most unfortunate circumstances after an innocent training ground clash with a teammate Ben Haim, put him out of action for another two weeks with facial wounds.

Cech suffered lacerations to his lip and chin in the clash with Ben Haim’s boot and was taken immediately to hospital where it is reported that he’ll require surgery and around 50 stitches. Ouch.

“Petr will begin his rehabilitation immediately and we hope to have him back playing as soon as possible,” remarked Chelsea boss Grant, earlier today.

Cudicini is now set to carry on deputising in tomorrow night’s Champions League Quarter Final second leg against Fenerbache. He also seems likely to start against Wigan and Everton in the Premiership, with Cech likely to return for the showdown with United on April 26.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
