Rio Ferdinand could be back in the United side for tomorrow night’s Champions League Quarter Final with Roma. It was thought that Rio’s foot injury would keep him sidelined for a couple of games at least but Ferguson has revealed in a press conference earlier today that he hopes to have him available against Roma.
“I’m hoping he will be playing tomorrow,” said Ferguson. “His scan was clear, which was good news…that’s the most important thing and therefore we hope we can get him fit for tomorrow.”
Ferguson went on to state that Neville and Silvestre will also play a part in tomorrow night’s game.
“Neville and Silvestre will both be involved and one of them may start depending on Rio.”
Collectively this is significant news for owners of United defenders, particularly Brown who could quickly go from a guaranteed start, given Ferdinand’s injury, to a possible bench player with Neville’s return.
