Ronaldo has reportedly revealed today that no agreement has been made for him to move to Real Madrid but more significantly, he’s also suggested that he could sidelined for up to 12 weeks following his ankle operation [source].

The winger had surgery earlier this week and although it is thought that there would be no prognosis on the injury until later this month, it now looks as though a lengthy absence is likely.

If confirmed, Ronaldo would miss the first six weeks of the season with a return around the end of September when United take on Bolton at home, looking on the cards.

For fantasy managers this is another interesting turn of events in the Ronaldo saga. As it happens, this news may not be as bad as it looks. Such is the uncertainty about the winger’s future, most of us have ruled him out of our initial lineups and, looking at United’s fixtures with the Fulham game in week three postponed, there appears to be better options than United players around.

If Ronaldo does return for the Bolton game at the end of September this would coincide with a more favourable run of fixtures for United. That’s when we’re likely to see major surgery carried out to fantasy teams throughout the land.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
