Some pun-filled injury news before the world ends – Micah Richards is looking on target to start for City against Chelsea at the weekend, despite concerns over a shoulder injury.
The City defender sustained the knock in a collision with City Keeper Joe Hart at Sunderland. The injury has been examined by medical staff at the club and Richards is still likely to be sore going into the game but should be in contention.
There’s bad news on Martin Petrov though. The winger suffered a knee injury in the UEFA tie with FC Midtjylland and is set to miss City’s next two fixtures against Chelsea this weekend and AC Omonia in the UEFA Cup on Thursday. Michael Johnson is also a doubt for the visit of Chelsea with a hip injury.
It looks likely that Robinho will now start the game having been flown back with his Brazilian team mates – Jo and Elano – via a private jet in order to get them back for a Friday training session.
