Gary Megson has hinted that record signing, Johan Elmander could make a return to action against Arsenal at the weekend.

The Swedish striker has resumed training following a hamstring injury and although, Megson is being cagey on his chances, the signs look good for a recall to the starting lineup.

“We will have to assess Johan after a few days training to see whether he is right or not,” remarks the Bolton boss who could also have on-loan striker Ebi Smolarek available to him after a family bereavement.

Elmander’s return will be a timely boost off the back of the defeat to Fulham, with Bolton clearly struggling for goals. Arsenal bring the best defence in the Premiership to the Reebok at the weekend and, while Wenger’s side will still fancy a clean sheet, Bolton with Elmander in their ranks are sure to ask a few more questions. Bolton have always presented Wenger will problems over the years so those fantasy managers contemplating the likes of Gallas and Clichy may be tempted to consider their options.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
