Gary Neville and Owen Hargreaves have been omitted from United’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League group match with Aalborg.
Hargreaves has felt a recurrence of the knee injury according to Ferguson. That won’t be a concern for fantasy managers but Gary Neville’s absence will ring a few alarm bells.
Neville has seemingly established himself as United’s first choice right back this season and only yesterday, Ferguson was praising the United skipper on his progress since a career-threatening injury.
The reason for Neville’s absence from tomorrow night’s side is unknown – presumably Ferguson is looking to rest him for Champions League matches, bringing in Brown and playing Neville in the Premeirship. That would be fine by us, however, if Neville’s omission is down to anything more sinister, it will require caution for those fantasy mangers currently contemplating a swoop for the United man, who is by far the cheapest option in their defence.
I’ll keep an eye on this one for you and keep you posted.
