As reports on Zaki’s dodgy calf come in from Cairo, Steve Bruce is apparently concerned about his prospects for the Liverpool game. The question is of course – should we?
Zaki turned out against Boro last weekend but didn’t train all week prior to the game as he was nursing a calf injury. Many fantasy managers backed him to do the business in that game but Zaki and Wigan drew a blank. To make matters worse, he apparently aggravated the injury further…
Despite this, Zaki has joined up with his international team mates this week, as Egypt prepare for their World Cup qualifier with Djibouti. His condition is being monitored by medical staff in Cairo with the latest bulletin suggesting that he may well be carrying a “slight muscle tear”.
All that Bruce and thousands of fantasy managers can do now is keep fingers crossed that Wigan’s prize asset returns in a fit state to turn out against Liverpool a week on Saturday. In the meantime, I’ll keep an eye on news from those Egyptian physios.
