Carlton Cole has revealed that he’s been carrying an ankle injury for the last two Premiership matches and has been fortunate to have made it through them.

The Hammers man scored against Fulham despite carrying the injury, and then managed to get through the Bolton game last weekend in which he again notched. However, he’s been carrying an ankle knock sustained against Newcastle earlier last month and it’s still troubling him.

Clearly, we’ll need to be wary of this over the next few weeks but with Zola’s options cut by the injury to Ashton and the slow progress made by Bellamy thus far, it appears that Cole’s place is assured, even at 90% fitness….

Cole has been a major success for West Ham so far this season and a fantasy bargain as a result. A budget purchase across the games, Cole has collected 3 goals, an assist and 8 Fantasy Premier League bonus points.

The international break should see the striker okay and he sounds hopeful of being available to add to his scoring tally at Hull in a 10 days time.

“Hopefully I can get my ankle right this week and get more goals in the next game at Hull City,” remarked the Hammers striker.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
