Scout notes later but it’s already worth highlighting that both Ronaldo and Robinho hobbled off in their respective games today.

Robinho struck a delcious goal to help City to a 3-0 drubbing over Wenger’s woeful Gunners but limped his way to the touchline after being replaced on 82 minutes. Ronaldo had a contrasting day, niggled and shoved by Villa for 80 minutes before hobbling off, with early indications that he’d suffered further knee problems…

Firstly, it appears to be good news on the Robinho front. According to Mark Hughes, it looks as though it’s a simple ankle sprain…

“He has just gone over on his ankle. It’s one that is initially very sore, it should settle down quickly and we do not anticipate that there will be any long-term damage. We hope he will be OK, if not for Thursday then certainly for the derby.”

Ronaldo’s apparent injury could be a little more complicated given the winger’s knee problems in the past. Details will be sketchy so soon after the match but I just wonder just how badly injured he was. True, he was limping fairly badly but he walked from the pitch unaided and although he made straight for the dressing room, he had time to gesture to the Villa fans on his way – hardly the actions of a player with concerns over a possible injury setback.

We’ll just have to wait for the post-match reaction to get some crumbs of information on this one. Right now though, I’m not too concerned.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
