Here’s comes another potential Christmas casualty, with news that Chelsea’s Petr Cech suffered a hand injury in last night’s win over Everton…

The Chelsea keeper, a hero for Scolari’s side and many FPL managers last night, sustained the injury to his thumb in the scramble that led to Pienaar’s disallowed goal.

”I don’t know how bad it is, we will have to see as I can’t take my glove off,” revealed the Chelsea stopper.

The Chelsea keeper played on after receiving treatment and is due to have the injury assessed today. Any forced absence over Christmas would be a major setback for his owners considering that Chelsea host goal-shy West Brom on Friday. Chelsea follow that with a trip to Fulham, another side who have struggled for goals this term.

With United gearing up for a decent run of fixtures that includes a double gameweek in January, it could be that some Cech owners now look to Van der Sar for their festive clean sheets. Cech’s departure would also free up a spare slot for another Chelsea player – ideal if you’re looking to cash in on Terry’s suspension over the next two games by considering Alex.

Cech owners should hold tight while we await news from Stamford Bridge but at the same time, it’s certainly worth holding fire on transfers until we know the latest.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
