Carlton Cole has been ruled out of Wednesday’s qualifier with the Ukraine as a result of the injury sustained against Slovakia today. Capello has called up Darren Bent to replace him in the squad.
There’s better news on both Heskey and Crouch. Capello is optimistic that Crouch will be in contention for Wednesday, while Heskey will have scans on his hamstring injury and could also be available.
Cole however, has returned to West Ham with what appears to be a groin strain and will be a major doubt for the weekend clash with Sunderland. We’re likely to hear more on his prognosis in the next 48 hours.
