Robin Van Persie has emerged as the latest concern for fantasy managers after pulling out of the Dutch squad for Wednesday’s qualifier with Macedonia with a groin injury.
Van Persie scored against Scotland at the weekend and was later subbed on 65 minutes. It’s now been revealed the he suffered a groin problem during the game and he will now be a major doubt for Arsenal’s home game with Man City.
Wenger will obviously be concerned, although, barring injury, he should have Arshavin and Adebayor available to him for the weekend fixture. Given that Arsenal face Villarreal in the Champions League Quarter Final next Tuesday, it seems unlikely that Wenger will take any risks with Van Persie. It looks like bad news for his fantasy owners then, particularly after the strikers’ decent return in the Newcastle game last time out.
