Kranjcar owners can take some comfort from the news that Portsmouth are now optimistic that their Croatian midfielder will be back in action this season.
Having suffered prolonged ankle problems before, the club’s doctor “is confident he will not be out for quite as long this time”, following today’s scan. Further scans are expected later this week.
Kranjcar is out of Wednesday’s clash with United, so we won’t get our double fixture returns. There’s an option to hold on and wait for a return to fitness though, however, with tricky games against Newcastle (away) and Arsenal at Fratton Park to come next, many of his owners will doubtless be eyeing up new targets in the next few days.
