Craig Bellamy is set to miss the rest of the season with the knee injury aggravated against Hamburg last month.

According to the club, the striker faces at least another two weeks of rest with the injury and would then struggle to regain strength in the knee in time to play a part in City’s remaining games.

Bellamy established himself as a fantasy favourite from the turn of the year, scoring six from December to February for both West Ham and City. He’s been limited to just one full appearance since then. His absence will open the way for Caicedo, Sturridge and Bojinov to stake a claim to the role of the lone striker in the City side. Caicedo is currently occupying the role, however Bojinov is set to return to reserve action tonight as he builds his fitness and he could well come into the side at Everton at the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
