News has filtered through this morning that Steven Gerrard has pulled out of England’s friendly game against Holland as a precautionary measure following a sore groin.

This kind of news will certainly worry a few fantasy managers, although it seems likely the Liverpool captain will almost certainly be fit and raring to go for the start of the season against Spurs on Sunday. With England’s match only being a friendly, this seems to be the most precautionary of measures. Capello has seen enough of Gerrard in the past and will not want to risk the wrath of Benitez. Rafa’s scathing opinions of the Spanish coaching unit when Torres picked up knocks on duty for his country, will have been ringing in Capello’s ears.

So by all means be cautious but, right now and until we hear of any further complications, this latest injury scare should be taken lightly.
