Alex Ferguson will be forced to turn to Wes Brown to partner John O’Shea in a makeshift central defensive partnership when United travel to Turf Moor in midweek.

United are without Rio Ferdinand who missed Sunday’s 1-0 win over Birmingham with a thigh injury sustained whilst on international duty with England. He is due a scan later today to assess the damange. Meanwhile, Jonny Evans is a major doubt for the Burnley clash after aggravating a groin injury on Sunday and Vidic is already sidelined, although he is expected to be available for Saturday’s clash with Wigan, according to Ferguson.

For fantasy managers, this news surely reinforces the value offered by John O’Shea who, given Fabio’s unconvincing display on Sunday, looks certain for starts on the right or in the centre over the next three or four gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
