The inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, filled its 512 spots in a remarkable 22 hours. Commiserations if you were unsuccessful this time, but there will hopefully be another opportunity later this season.
As promised, the draw is complete and available to peruse and plot tactics here. To find specific ties, remember that Ctrl+F is your best friend. As this post disappears from the front page next week, we will put up a banner, designed by Paddy Power specifically for our Cup, on the front page that will link straight to the latest rounds draw.
The draw itself has thrown up some very juicy fixtures I think you’ll agree…
An all-FFS H2H1 tie sees Andy take on Comfy_Coxy, and another site contributor SIR PAULOS has a notable opponent in Barkerov. There are some other ties that would surely be televised in a fantasy football world, Pocky Vs. Jms, Seal Vs. smuggs, Super Jon Vs. Sasquatch spring to mind. I can go on, BP FC Vs. denial, Pierre Luigi Collina Vs. Jimi…
Everyone will of course be searching for Fran’s opponent, and the random gods have been kind to her, handing her an 8 point advantage even before the international fixtures have taken place.
I’ll mention Cornelius Vs. ronanfromcork as well. Some of you will be aware that Cornelius was the unlucky 513th entrant, only to get a last-minute inclusion after a duplicate team was spotted in the draw (I didn’t put myself in twice, I promise). I for one will be paying close attention to this potential fairy-tale story.
I have a little update from our sponsors Paddy Power as well, regarding the eligibility of prize winners. Paddy Power cannot accept registrations from residents of the following countries (cue laborious list)… American Samoa, Aruba, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belarus, Congo (Republic of the), France, Jersey, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Serbia and Montenegro, Timor-Leste (Democratic Republic of), Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands, Unspecified, Virgin Islands (US). Now I don’t know what ‘Unspecified’ means exactly, but I think it’s fair to assume that if anyone does come under this vague umbrella, they’ll know about it. So if your country is not in that list, then you are eligible for prizes if you sign up to Paddy Power. Hurray!
So a quick recap of the prizes then…
The overall winner will have £200 deposited into their Paddy Power account, and will take his/her place on the Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame. The Runner-up wins £100, and the winner of the 3rd place play-off will have £50 deposited into their Paddy Power account.
A gameweekly prize of a £25 bet will be awarded to the participant with the highest individual cup score for that particular gameweek.
A word also on how and when the results will be available. Originally it was going to take days to turn around each round to the next, what with the manual checking of each score. However, SUPERIOR BEING must take enormous credit for producing an incredibly time-saving spreadsheet, that will help us publish the full results very early in the week, and do the next round draw soon after.
So, there’s nothing left for me to say other than good luck to all (except McEwan).
