Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira have both stepped up their return to fitness today after coming through a 60-minute match at the Chelsea training ground.

Cole actually the goal for his eleven and, judging by the report, looked lively throughout.

The England midfielder has been out since sustaining cruciate knee ligament damage in an FA Cup tie against Southend back in January. Right-back Ferreira meanwhile, has been recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered during training in April.

According to reports today, the pair are said to be just a few weeks from a return. That’s great news for Ancelotti, particularly given the recent news surrounding the clubs transfer embargo.

It’s pretty awful news for us fantasy managers though. The last thing we need is further competition for places at right-back and in midfield in the Chelsea squad. You have to wonder where Cole would fit into Ancelotti’s diamond. The most obvious answer being – at the point. Bad news for Lampard owners perhaps?

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
