For the 128 of you left in the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, negotiating the next two rounds will be the difference between being just another chancer and becoming a serious contender. For now, a place in the last 64 is up for grabs.

To scout your opposition click here to find your tie. I’ve picked out a few ties of note as the competition whittles down further…

The calibre of opponent certainly seems to be increasing as we progress into the third round, with plenty of ties composed entirely of top 50k  players. Roger C (ranked 2,563rd) Vs. Leeds Champion (43,262), spiderman (44,765) Vs. El Nino (640), Matts 11 (3,001) Vs. Steve (8,549), Jimrod (10,438) Vs. John (7,264) and Pure Olivia (30,014) Vs. Will (4,660) gives you just a flavour of how difficult it will be to be in the hat for Round 4.

For many modestly ranked managers that have either rode their luck or pulled off great victories in the previous rounds, there is little hiding this time round. Bedknobs and Boomsticks for instance, has progressed without yet reaching dizzying heights. Ranked outside the top 150k, he now faces Yogesh, ranked 595th in the world. There are bigger problems in store for Sam (Team Sam). After a superb 2008/2009 season where he finished 288th in the world, he’s had a stuttering start and currently has an overall rank of 447,757. His opponent Shanklyboys has been consistently brilliant in the last 3 seasons, and has continued that consistency this season, currently sitting 144th overall in the world.

It’s not all about overall rank though, and as every fantasy manager knows, one good gameweek score is always just round the corner (as well as a bad one). As in the previous two rounds, there is a free £25 bet up for grabs courtesy of Paddy Paddy for the highest gameweekly score in the cup. For each round you manage to stay in the competition, the odds of winning keep on doubling. Last weeks winner The Dinkum Donuts, who knocked out greek fan in the process, is up against Xtentz.

The results will be published on or before Tuesday evening, but for now good luck to everyone still involved.
