You no doubt already know how your first round tie in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II went. However, if you’d like to see how everyone else faired (or make absolutely sure you worked out your tie correctly), then click here for the complete list. For a brief round-up of the first round highlights (or low-lights in my case), read on…

Firstly, congratulations to NBJ who, with a score of 107, attained the highest score in the round. This of course entitles him to a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Honourable mentions go out to the other managers scoring a ton after hits; Jamsiep (103), ajaidaniel (102), mysteryDave (100), Up The Arshavin (100) and Bedok (100).

It’ll come as no surprise to know that NBJ was involved in the highest aggregate scoring tie of the round. His unlucky opponent, scoring 87, was JamSohnson.

Despite being eliminated after scoring 87, JamSohnson did not ‘achieve’ the highest losing score. That unfortunate title goes to higgo who, after being drawn against the highest ranked player in the competition, ZB FC, agonisingly lost 92-90. Ouch. That result sees ZB FC hold on to 6th place in the world, so well done to him.

Higgo’s defeat wasn’t the narrowest outright losing margin in the round, as eight ties were decided by a single point. Alderhot Rejects, Henk, Pierre Luigi Collina, Jimi, brumfor1st, Our Syd, davescold and olivebj were the managers sneaking into the hat for the second round.

Narrower still were the eight ties with no outright winner at all. These were decided on who had the highest overall rank. Progressing to the next round based on their performances over the previous 29 weeks are; Yankee, petrov, YekiM, Little Lukin, nimajneb, Jonny, Fabio1102 and FFS Cup I runner-up Breakballartist. By missing out on the second round by just 1,395 places, PMcC can perhaps consider himself the unluckiest fantasy manager in the first round.

Our defending champion donnellyc powered into the second round after a convincing 91-70 win over Yepmop, who was ranked 18th in the world. Yepmop now finds himself in the lowly position of 27th.

NeedleVor and DeathAngel fought out the lowest aggregate scoring tie, with the former’s team coming out 57-52 winners. NeedleVor’s 57 was the lowest score good enough to progress.

The lowest score in the entire competition was Flemball’s 25. Taking a 36-point hit really does hinder your chances of progressing.

To the Scout Contributor’s now, and only three have survived the first round. Andy battered RoysBrotherJohnson 81 – 56, Granville beat magpie36 78 – 70 and I’m Not Marshal Foch saw off Twisted Saltergater 84 – 66. Mark, greek fan and SUPERIOR BEING all suffered narrow losses to Totallylegitimate, The_Monk and Figono7 respectively. Oh yeah and I got destroyed by eskimo and his wildcard (which would have been a suitable excuse for getting beat, had I scored more than a pathetic 65).

The draw for the second round will take place this evening and is likely to be with you by tomorrow morning at the very latest.
