Didier Drogba will be in the Chelsea side when they take to the field at Old Trafford on Saturday. Carlo Ancelotti today quelled fears that the Ivorian would again miss out against United having been rested in the mauling of Villa through fatigue and a string of niggles and knocks.

Reports earlier today, notably in the Daily Mail, indicated that Drogba had failed to train this week and was a “major doubt” for the weekend. There does appear to be some foundation to those claims but today’s statements to the press by Ancelotti has offered full reassurance. In a week that has seen us fantasy managers lose the service of Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney, Ancelotti’s statement is most welcome…

“Drogba had a little problem at the start of the week and was out for two days because he had kick on his knee….He was on the treatment table with (Yuri) Zhirkov but they have trained today very well. We don’t have a problem with the other players.”

According to reports Ancelotti then went on to confirm that Drogba would be in his starting eleven.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
