Robin Van Persie is set to return to full training “imminently” according to Arsenal’s physio Colin Lewin. A report in the Daily Mail is even suggesting that the Dutchman, who has been out since November, could make a return against Spurs next week.

While Arsene Wenger will be mindful at risking Van Persie, his return would hand the Gunners a timely boost as they make a final tilt for the title. The striker’s return would also be significant for Fantasy Managers. Van Persie’s form prior to his injury was outstanding; recording seven goals and seven assists in 11 league starts. That has his leading the points-per-game stats in the Fantasy Premier League game and with a value of 10.1, he is considerably cheaper than rivals Drogba, Torres and Rooney.

Van Persie’s “imminent” return would also likely put an end to Nicklas Bendtner’s run in the Arsenal starting eleven. The Dane has enjoyed a consistent spell of fantasy scoring since his return from injury, notching four goals and four assists in seven league starts. In truth Bendtner could and should have more goals to his name and Van Persie’s availability would surely see him relegated to the bench for the final few fixtures, should Arsenal’s title challenge go to the wire…

This news will now have Bendtner owners fidgeting ahead of FPL deadline this weekend. He has enjoyed plenty of fantasy investment of late with his value rising from 5.9 to 6.3. The likes of Darren Bent and Carlos Tevez are now set to gain further interest as Bendtner ownership begins to wane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
